Do I get a prize or something? I called Blake and Jordin as the final 2, weeks ago...check my old discussions! I am so happy! This is going to be a great finale. The two of them are already stars and are going to be HUGE! :)

I am right with you. I am very happy to know that these 2 are the finals. They both deserve it. This has been a good American Idol year after all. I'm not sure who i want to win I like both blake and Jordin both so much. Well whoever wins they are both still winners to me.

Although I was surprised that Melinda didn't make it into the finale of American Idol, I think it was for the best. She is a little too old for the competition, in my opinion. I think that the match up between Blake and Jordin is more evenly matched. The fact that they are both younger works in their favor, too. I really like both of them, and it's the first time I really don't care which person wins because I think they're both deserving.

Yes, I feel the same. She seemed too old for Idol to me too. She needed to show more personality to stay in the competition. I also will be happy with whoever wins now, and that's the first time I can say that in all the seasons!

My husband and I called it too. Melinda is good, just not as marketable as Blake and Jordin. Even I would see one of their concerts and I don't go to concerts anymore. Blake is such a cutie !! He is a true performer. Jordin has this "spark" (no pun intended with the name..lol) about her. I love to hear her sing. And she's only 17 !! I think she will win in the end, but both Blake and Melinda will have a great career.

Thanks! "marketable" that is a good word to explain it! That is exactly what I have been trying to say...Melinda was not marketable enough for American Idol.

Blake is a sound effects singer, not a singer. I am really shocked. Melinda is not too old to be an American Idol. Look who won once before, a gray haired older contestant. I also disagree that it is only the younger viewers voteing. My cirlce of friends and aquaintances vote for the American idol and we are in our 40's and 50's. I do not think that the American Idol is only about looks and being young. If Blake wins this then the whole idea of the American idol competition has been lost. Look at Ruben, who won a few years back. This man was obese and not really all that great looking, but, he had a voice. He could sing. He made the listener feel the words and melody. He dressed classy. Personally, I think Blake is just obnoxious but then that is just my opinion, my taste. The one good thing about all this is Melinda did not lower her values during this competition, I think that alone showed a lot of personality. She has a good voice, no, a great voice, and just as in the past years I believe we will see and hear plenty more from her even over whoever wins this year. As for my vote his year, Jordin will have it, as I hear a voice, a song, a lyric, a melody that is pleasant when she sings, and not just a bunch of noise.

Jordin gets my vote, too. I'm older, too, so maybe that's why I'm not crazy about Blake. He seems like a nice kid, but not the type of talent that lasts a long time. A strong voice, like the last three girls have, will mean a long career for each of them. I'd buy CDs of Melinda and Kiki in a minute.

I agree with you there and all I am saying is Blake is not moldable as you put it. They tryed to get him to sing a song without beatboxing and he wouldn't do it. Melinda is memorable and moldable as she came out of her shell live on national television. I am sure we will see more of her face and hear more of her voice. I cannot say I believe that of Blake. By the way has anyone here read the discussion about Constantine being on Bold and the Beatiful? WOW! Another good one that is going places.

I never said that only younger people vote, I just said that it is the majority of the people voting...60 million people did vote that night. And speaking of Ruben, yes he did win because of all those things, but what happened to him since? Nothing! People will not continue to buy albums of a person who doesn't maintain their interest. I agree that Jordin will win, I love her voice, she is young, moldable, and perfect for a long career.

Good for you although I was hoping that Melinder would be one of the finalists. Why didn't you think Melinda could win? Were her songs too old fashioned? http://your-true-idol.blogspot.com/

I thought Melinda was a great singer, but as I've said in the above replies, she wasn't marketable. She didn't show off enough of her personality, and I didn't feel like I really got to know her like the other two. She was just quiet all the time and smiling. Her songs, and voice, were also too old fashion for my taste. There are so many good singers out there that alone it doesn't cut it anymore. There needs to be something unique that sets them apart from the rest. Blake definitely has that down, and Jordin is young and fresh and can do anything she wants with her career with a voice like that.

I am so Happy for them both. Blake is a local boy here from the Seattle area, so no matter how he does next week he will make it Big. I agree with someone else who said Melinda was too old. I feel we needed 2 younger people this yr. and it will be an awesome Show next week for sure. I just cannot believe how upset Simon was though. But either way, I Love them both and it will be a hard choice for me for Voting next week.

This is going to be a fantastic finale. I wanted a Blake/Jordin finale, but didn't think it was going to happen after the judges (especially Simon) were pushing for Melinda to be in the finals. America definitely got it RIGHT this time around. I'll be happy with either Jordin or Blake as the next American Idol and will buy both of their cds.

Sure your prize is that your were right and one of the ones you like will win! I called it weeks ago it would be Blake and Chris Richardson! They were my 2 favorites from the beginning! I'm so glad that Blake is in the finale! I love him- He is different, and unique! I'm also glad that melinda got ousted! I think that many contestants will get record deals from this season- Possibly even Sanjaya- YUK!

I have to disagree. I think Miss Doolittle should have at least made it to the final two. I don't hold much faith in the American Idol process. The only winner I have seen become an "idol" is Kelly Clarkson. (yes I know the one became a country star but country isn't as widely liked) More often than not I see the second or even third place contestants do better.

I cant belive Blake is in the Final 2, he is the one who should of left last night. Melinda is wayyy better then Blake and will be a bigger star then he will EVER be. America made a mistake last night, but i guess it will all be fixed next week when Jordan wins as she is also way better then Blake. Blake should of been history from the begining, as he isnt a very good singer.

I guess we will see in the coming year whether or not Melinda actually does go anywhere. I doubt it. I'd put money on it if I could. It's not that I didn't like Melinda, I did. She was a wonderful singer, and yes better than Blake, whom I agree is not a great singer alone. But it just wasn't going to happen for Melinda, I saw it a long time ago. She wasn't and isn't marketable haha (see above posts). Jordin will win, but Blake is a talented performer and he will blow up like crazy. Mark my words. Look at all the people in the music industry that have average voices...what makes them millionaires is the fact that they can keep the attention of a crowd and perform!

Even though I thought Melinda and Jordin is going to be in the last 2. I'm quite happy with Blake and Jordin. Jordin is my favourite from day 1 anyway so whoever else in the last two, as long as one of them is Jordin I'm really happy...So let's see who's gonna be the next american idol... have anice day..xx

I can not wait to see the finale now that Blake and Jordin are the last two standing!! I think it will make it exciting, fresh, and much more modern. American Idol hasn't been picking stars like Beyonce, Maroon Five, and Gwen Stefani...and I think this is the very first year that it will be different. I can see ALL of these past 4 contestants making it big, and especially Blake and Jordin:) I am very, very happy with the results!
17 May 07
Oh no, I'm living in Pakistan at the moment and we don't get the results show until TONIGHT!!! I would have bet on it being Melinda and Jordin, though I think Blake is great and brilliant at revamping old songs to make them hip and up-to-date, I just don't quite think he has the vocal talent of the girls. If these are the final two, then it must be Jordin to win???

I'm so disappointed that Melinda got voted out. Young people aren't the only ones watching and voting. I think she had lots of personality and more importantly, way more talent than the other two. Oh well, it was nice to see Elliot again.

I am sorry I have to disagree with you. As much as I like Blake, I think he should have went home last night. I think it should have been between Melinda and Jordin. But now that it is between Blake and Jordin I will be voting for Jordin. I like Blake but he is not the best singer. Yes he does have personality but this is a singing competition. I sure hope all three of them make cd's and do good. They are all great in their own ways.

Serene: How many times have you gone to see any Idol contestant or, winner live onstage, at a concert or any live venue? Very few people get to see these performars live. What most people do, is buy albums and CD's and although like you say, Blake is a good entertainer and performer, how well do you think his cd's or albums will sell,in comparison to Melinda's? And the perfect example of this is Taylor Hicks, he won because voters liked his stage presence and unique style. But,very few are buying his albums and his popularity is going down the drain. Idol may have become a pure entertainment and popularity contest, but in the long run,it's record and album sales that become the real proof that it's the vocal ability that counts.

As far as I know, Taylor Hicks is doing quite well as far as selling albums. You know who's not? Fantasia and Ruben. How do you explain that?

As much as everyone says "this is a singing competition", it's not! Haven't we learned that in all the past seasons? It never comes down to pure singing...it comes down to the whole package. It's an entertaining competition. We pick our favorites based on who we find the most entertaining and the best performer. If it was only a singing competition...we would never see the contestants, they'd be behind a shadow screen and never move. It's about the performing as a whole and not just the singing.
