Do people judge you for having piercings

As a 17 year old male I decided i wanted piercings, and yes it is addictive, now at the age of 25 i could have in total 15 (although i took a couple out) and some non-visible tattoo's and wanting some more that would be quite visible. I had a discussion with my parents who claimed that I am not helping myself by keeping my piercings but I want to know what others think, do you judge people for having piercings, or tattoo's or multi coloured hair, and if you do then i guess the biggest question is why?

I have my cartilage and my nostril pierced, in addition to traditional earlobe piercings. I also have my belly button pierced (and five tattoos, though all of them are easily concealable). I know that there are a lot of people out there who judge people based upon their appearance, including how many bizarre piercings, visible tattoos, or odd hair colors they have. For the time being, I'm keeping my appearance relatively conservative, though I hope someday to be able to make more of a statement. I've learned that when people get to know you, they don't care about the odd things you do with your appearance as much. My old boss didn't care what color my hair was, and only teased me about my nostril piercing and tattoos. It's only at first impressions that people judge other people based on their looks. If a person isn't willing to look past that, I have a hard time believing that I would want to associate with that person.

Yeah...I feel as though I have been treated differently by certain "types" of people...for instance I revealed to a coworker the other day that i have a septum piercing that I keep hidden (and others) and another coworker overheard, shook his head, in what appeared to be disgust, and stated that it's not for him to judge...because GOD will do it in due time. But there are other things about my appearance that might throw some people off...especially considering I live in a small town. I am especially saddened by the fact that anyone who wants to have a decent paying, successful career is likely not going to be allowed to have piercings or visible tattoos or off-color hair...:( GROW UP AMERICA...:( There is nothing unethical about piercings and tattoos, it's just not something SOME people aren't used to, therefore they are offended by it...I wish they would hurry up and evolve...

Its sad people do. I used to have a nose ring and people wouldn't talk to me. my dad freaked out and said is that a burger?I said no dad its a stone in my nose. I used to love wearing them and then I out grew that stage and let it heal. I think its dumb that people judge others by how many piercings they have or where they are. I see people all the time with piercings. I just think their expressing themselves, and people shouldn't say bad comments about them.

I don't really judge by it personally, although when it would come to work and such I can easily understand if someone would say no to a job application simply because of an appearance like that, especially in a public function. In my opinion people should be freely available to do with their bodies what they want, but as long as it's far from totally accepted by society there are times in which it comes with a downside.
