truth or lie

Well,last night,I lied to my best friend and now I feel guilty:(
The fact is that my best friend came to my university last night with her boyfriend to see me and onather friend in this same campus. When she called me out,I was listening to a lecture which I have been looking forward for a long time. I hesitated because I really wanted to finished that lecture.It was very helpful to my study and I need the guide to make the decision about my future carrer. Meanwhile,I didn't want to let my friends down because it was not easy for them coming to my campus. So I just told a white lie to make myself less culpable.
What would you do if you were in such a situation? :)

Usually i invite them and ask them to wait if it's possible as it's hard for them to come to my campus though thye came.So i don't lie to them.It's difficult to lie to a friends who came for us from a long place not even a long place but it's difficult to lie to them as i have to move with them only.

I did want to ask them to wait,but the lecture didn't come to an end untill 10 o'clock p.m..How can I ask them to wait for a blank cheque~~~ cuz I was sure that I couldn't make it on time.But anyway,I won't lie to a friend anymore:)

I would have told her the truth. I don't care much for lieing to anyone for any reason. I would have explained the situation and asked if we could meet sometime later when I was done. I am sure your friend would have understood.
