I would like to know if anyone has been using Omega 3 supplements for an extended period of time, and the benefits of taking it. Is it good for you, does it help? Have you had any negative side effects? I read some information about this supplement but I'd rather hear results from people's experiences before trying certain things. Thank you.

I had had Omega 3 for 3 months but together with other nutritions. I'm on diet and I got my weight loss 7 kgs in 3 months; my blood pressure reduced from 160/100 to 140/90. I don't know if this is the result of using Omega3 or not. And I think that only Omega3 itself should not help so much. We need to use it with other nutritions or vitamins to get good outcome.

I've been taking salmon oil along with a few supplements and, while I don't have a heart condition, I'm using it as a preventative, since it runs in my family. And, in general, it seems to help me feel better.
One caveat, though - watch out for the salmon oil. I keep getting fishy breath, so I think next time I'll be getting the flax oil instead. Same benefits, just no fishy goodness.

Hi tsgirl, I also take 1200 mg of Omega 3 and 1200 mg of Flax Oil for my elevated Cholesterol and for me it has not worked very well. Maybe it's just my system.

I am sorry to hear that the Omega 3 and Flaxseed Oil do not work for you howard96h. I keep hearing that Omega 3 is good for triglyceride levels, when those levels get too high it leads to high cholesterol levels this is what I've read. I really don't know what to do, guess I need to talk to my doctor. From what I've read, I understand that the use of actual flaxseeds are better than the oil. I can be wrong but perhaps you would think of trying the flaxseed in your foods as opposed to the oils? I will let you know what my Dr. has to say about all of this when I talk to him next week. Take care and thanks for your response, it gives me more to talk to my doctor about

I have been taking NOrdic Naturals Omega 3-6-9 for about 1 year. My cardiologist recommended it and my primary care doctor agreed. I have had less joint pain ( I have a sort of autoimmune disorder) by about 50% or more. It is heart healthy and also great for joint problems as they say. It is something we don't get enough of in our regular diets as a rule...I have had no side effects and the brand I take has no after taste/bad breath symptoms as most can. Personally I wouldn't stop taking it as I have seen some good results and my blood work shows some "unfelt" results!! I order mine from Vitacost.com and love their prices.

Thank you so much rx4life! You gave me some great information. I was looking online at the brand that you use. I just see so many things and don't know what will be good. I am going to go to the site you purchase from and check it out. And knowing that a cardiologist recommends it impresses me. I really appreciate your help, thanks again and take care...
