i started having migraines when i was 11. i'm not sure if its hereditary but i think it is because my mom had it at 15. she has taken drugs for it but that was only temporary. like her i cried myself to sleep because of the pain which only made it worst.
at present i don't get it that often anymore but when i do i usually take a bath. the bath don't have that much of an effect but the running water does. when i took a supplement it made it even less a lot less frequent.
what meds do u guys suggest i take to make it disappear completely?

I have not found any medications that always make my migraines completely disappear, but I have found some things that help a lot. You will need to see a doctor and ask about the following prescriptions.
Topamax is a medication which, taken daily helps to prevent migraines. Since I began taking the Topamax, not only have my migraines have decreased drastically but the severity has also decreased.
When I get a migraine, I take Imitrex for it. Although there are other migraine medications out there, Imitrex is the one that works the best for me. Something else may work better for you though. Imitrex comes in several forms. I take the pills, although it also comes in a shot and a nasal spray.
When my migraines get bad and the Imitrex does not work, I occasionally have to go to the emergency room for an IV of Demerol. This does not happen very often, but has happened on a couple of occasions when my migraines would not go away after several days and were so painful that it was impossible to function.
In addition to the prescription medications, I alternate Tylenol Migraine and Motrin. Increasing caffeine consumption is also helpful when I get migraines. Alternating hot and cold packs to the back of my neck, and a cool cloth over my eyes sometimes helps, and lying down in a quiet darkened room are often necessary as well.

But, does anybody know what is causing this pain, or what it is, that is wrong! Is there no cure or operation for it?

The pain is comming from the trigeminal nerve in the brain.

You guys with migraines, is there no cure, or corrective surgery for this ailment? What worries me, is that my daughter tells me that she gets migraine headaches also!

I started getting migraines in my late teens. There really isn't anything available (that I know of) that will stop them entirely, but there are a few things that can help.
Increasing your caffiene intake helps to ward off migraines. Caffeine also helps when you have one and is a major ingridient in excedrin which for me is the best non perscription medication to take for migraines.
At one point I did have a Doctor who prescribed a low dosage of the high blood pressure medication propranalol. Taking that did help prevent the migraines, but there were other (non serious) side effects involved.
I agree with Kelly that Imitrix seems to work the best when I have a migraine, to get rid of it.

I have limited most of the harsh chemicals in my apartment, getting rid of the cleaners, regular toothpastes, mouthwashes, and even the regular laundry detergents, paper towels, and bathroom tissue, and have instead bought all-natural and biodegradable alternatives, things like Burt's Bees, Tom's of Maine, Seventh Generation, Avalon Organics, and a few other brands.
And, I have gone to a mostly natural and organic diet. Since doing that and having an exercise routine, my migraines are much less frequent and severe.
I seem to be sensitive to some chemicals, as some of them make my body itch all over really badly and some of them even make me break out in hives.
Some people, including doctors, do not seem to realize that multiple chemical sensitivity can cause headaches. If you don't believe me, do an online search on multiple chemical sensitivity.
Since doing all this, I don't need the meds quite as much.
But, since you asked about medication, my headache specialist has me on two preventatives: Inderal and Celexa. I have nothing to abort the migraines once they have started, but the two preventatives really help.
I hope this information helps.
