Do we spend too much time clicking ads?

Do you think we spend too much time clicking ads? I'm a member of quite a few paid to click and read affiliate programs and clicking all the ads doesn't add up to much The key to earning at least $100 a month from each program is to get referrals. But will the referrals click on the ads and use the program. Has anyone got at least 10 referrals to each of the programs they're a member of Do you earn at least $50 a month from each of your get paid to programs I know i don't and I still cant find good referrals. What is the best way Please give your suggestions and i'll try your ideas
