MyLotters not understanding

What I am going to say is truly not meant to criticize. I hope that it will be taken in the spirit that I say it. I have received some responses to my discussions that cause me to think that (1) the responders could not grasp what I was saying, (2) They did not thoroughly read what I had written, or (3) they just responded without reading it at all. Maybe someone else has had this problem. I would hope that I am not the only one. Before I respond to a discussion I always read it thoroughly and give it some thought.

By thoroughly do you mean reading each response? I admit I do not always read each response before posting. I sometimes feel as if everything I want to say has already been said. And I want to stomp my feet and say no fair, I want to talk too. But after reading the responses to this I think I had better read them a little better before posting.

It happens sometimes, often due to misunderstanding. I do try to read through carefully when I respond to a discussion.

It is the ignorance, illiteracy, the haste and the hunger for dollars cause this. They look at a single word and start hammering the keyboard with a glee without caring for the content or tense of the discussion. It is part of the game I think.

Very wise - worldwise - but I think you are right on this one - I do think many people don't either grasp what you are saying or they don't read your post thoroughly. I have found this also to be the case and some folks get done right offended, hurt, angry, or respond with hostility for really no reason at all. I wish I had an answer to this one - my response is usually try to ignore it as much as possible.

I've also found this and to be honest sometimes I did the same thing. Some discussions are really too long for others to read carefully. I've read some discussions that are quite long but after reading them, I failed to grasp the points that the writers want to convey, so I just respond based on my own understandings. I think discussions started should not be too long and the issues should be clear and clean.

Yes, I can understand your feeling. When I reply discussions, although I won't finish read the reponses from others, at least, I will read the discussion or topic firtly, then give my opinion. I am sure that my response is related to the discussion closely. I come here to share opinions not to obtain earnings. So I also hope that each mylotter could be responsible for its response. If people give the responses without any relationship to the discussions, it's better for them not to post the responses here. They could start their own disccusions. Let more people enjoy their discussions or new topics.

I think it happens to most of us here. It is easier for me to get off the subject once in a while and then forget to answer the topic. Is it human nature to wander of the subject? I don't know. I think it takes time to read a discussion thoroughly and understand what is being said. I often miss points in discussions, but I am reading too fast. That gets to be a habit. I think a lot of posters are going too fast, but I sometimes find myself doing the same things.

i find this happens a lot to me where people respond with out reading the entire post. i think some people are just trying to answer as many posts as they can during the day to make money and are not too worried about actually giving a good response to the topic.

Yes I do know what you are saying i beieve this is my first response to one of your discussions i see you are fairly new to mylot as i am too only been here myself for 3 months. I have had alot of responses that made me think they did not understand what i was saying or they only read the first couple of lines or so. Some people just make any old response to get post accumulated too. YOu are not alone on this i am sure it happens to most of us at one time or another. It is not a critizism it is your opinion and you have a right to that love.

mylot is composed of different ethicities. we expect responses of varying types, relevant, irrelevant, "off the wall", "singing out of tune", sensible, responsible, irresponsible, etc. but never i rated someone negatively. i presumed the participant has not really grasped the point of the discussion or perhaps has not thoroughly read the question being asked or maybe the one replying did it intentionally for the sake of earning points. in fact i just discovered someone, a new member, who has earned hundreds of points in one day by copying and pasting his response to all the discussions he participated in, sort of spamming. i warned him and he just got all his discussions and responses deleted by mylot.

I've had this problem as well, sometimes I think its just number 3. Most of the people that i've noticed doing it are just trying to get there numbers and money up.

for my discussions i can not say that i had received posts not related to the discussion. but i aw this in some other discussions the fact thathere in mylot they pay members to add there posts make some members are locking just for add posts much as they could to raise there daily income here so they just interest here for adding more and more and this make some of them adding posts without meaning and not related to the discussions simply they do not care about that. they well not wise the time reading. for me really i am reading here more than writing i am learning here about my interest like working online issues. so i think you need to do like me i am giving posts like this a negative rate maybe when they lose some points they well learn to add some good tips

may be the newbie of mylot is still not understanding how can make good discussion. you can explain this opinion in one specialy discuss that can be accesed by new comers in mylot. then we can create big community to discussing how to give posting in mylot. and that is may help to make mylot community more life.

hi worldwise! i have not been very active in mylot, since i spend most of my time in the office, therefore i seldom have the chance to participate in discussions like these and i seldom have the time to post or create a discussion of my own. well, i suppose there would be lots experiencing problems such as yours. in my opinion, those who seem not to be understanding you, or responding to you in a way that semms they have not thoroughly read your questions, are those who are only interested in making money...you know, "just for the sake of participating" they tend not to care about what they post, what they say..and they don't give a damn whether if their response would be informative enough to the reader like you. don't mind them, i do believe in karma..ehehehe. and besides, i also believe they won't get anything since they also give nothing - in short, empty thoughts..so just pity them! :-) hope to hear from you.

I've had a few responses where the user did not read throughly.Sometimes it might be cause they do not understand English well and from other countries or maybe some are rushing for a quick $$$ I really don't know I'm only guessing. No I understand you are not critcizing everybody has a right to speak their mind.

that happens a lot to me too, it is all the reasons, and in the case of people who are not english, they may not understand what is being said and understand something totally different.

I have had this problem a number of times. The thing is, you're probably preaching to the choir. Everyone who does take the time to read discussions and answer thoroughly probably don't do that anyways and they are answering your discussion and reading it thoroughly. Those people who skip or just answer to answer, they probably will never read your post. I think you bring up a good point, I just hope that some people do get a chance to see it.

I've seen people who have responded to a post based on the title of the post without actually reading the discussion. I find that rude and ignorant. One member a while back actually did a discussion experiment. She wrote a post title, but in the discussion, she presented something completely different. It was astounding the number of people who replied based on the title of the post only. Reading the discussion is half the problem for some people it seems. I know there are those who don't use English as a first language, and thats fine, I'm good with that, but there are those who DO use English as a first language, yet they fail to understand what's being discussed. It's not as hard as people would think to actually take a few seconds to read a few sentences. Those who don't are those hoping to make it big online and earn mega bucks. It's not gonna happen!

i too think that this is the common practise adopted here to save time... I strongly believe that this is a forum were we are here to share our problems and thoughts and try to work out with it and some one posting unmeaningful really hurts sometimes...
