Do you think selling your items with labels, tags increase your sales or are they not necessary. My girlfriend states consumers are so accustomed to labels on everything that they see having tags as similar to a designer label and are more apt to purchase an items. What has being your experience?

I don't create any clothing, so don't have occasion to use sew-in labels at all. However, I've been making beaded jewelry for years and selling it whenever and wherever the spirit moves me. Originally, I (cleverly, I thought) bound the items with raffia or ribbon and hung a small paper price tag from them. So many folks suggested that I personalize things abit, that I started mounting items on fairly thick recycled paperboard and signed the board with just my initials in script. Wow, what a difference! I think a "signature" of any sort just adds class to your crafts, and alot of folks seemed to assume that I was really accomplished and the signature would be "recognized"! It really boosted my sales, and I've kept it up for years now with good results. Have fun and thanks for the post!

I don't sell crafts, but I've been thinking about it and going around to different craft shows and flea markets to investigate. If something doesn't have a tag, I usually pass on it. I hate having to ask how much every single item costs. It makes me think that the person who is selling it might make up a price for every customer. If I decide to start selling crafts, I will put tags or labels on everything to make it easier for the customers.

I put many of my native American crafts on consignment in several store. I do put lables on them so that they know who put them together and also if someone wants to get in touch with me to put together any thiig special I can do that for them.
