What's the point of making comments if we don't get paid for them?

From my understanding, we only get paid for starting a discussion or responding to somebody else's discussion. If I am wrong, please correct me. But under my knowledge, we don't get paid for making comments. Why is this so? I feel like making comments sometimes take as much time as making a response or starting a discussion. I know it is good to keep your discussion going by commenting on what people have responded to on your discussion but at the same time, I could be making some earnings by just making a discussion post or a response. I know it isn't all about the money because some people does this for fun. However, what are your views about this.
Thanks! :)

Does it really matter? Like you'd get a couple extra cents by commenting or not, if you'd truly be doing it for just that couple of cents you can much better go work at the McDonald's, do it 12 hours a week or so and you'd make like 300 bucks or so already. Gives you a lot more than 12 hours of commenting here ;).

Well, if I find that people are just posting discussions and not replying to comments, I usually quit reading them. If I find that someone on my friends list just posts and doesn't reply to comments, they are deleted.
Few things are more boring than one sided conversations. ;~D

I didn't mean you, it usually takes a week or so for me to notice if a person on my friends list isn't into commenting back. I don't reply to every comment and don't expect everyone to comment on mine.
So far, I haven't seen any reason to delete you as a friend. ;~D

Great point made...now I feel a little guilty...I need to go back and comment on some of my past discussions. I don't want to be deleted as a friend...:(
It's hard sometimes to keep up with so many discussions. I start commenting on one discussion and then another one pops up in my head. I will try to do better.
Thanks for your response!

Okay you asked GRUMPY Grandpa Bob for his view. here it is and don't get upset with me please as it's my view and mine alone at this time....Is there a link or something to verify this fact that we as members DON'T get paid for not commenting on responses? I'd like to see this as I'm tired of these discussions stating something about what mylot pays and doesn't. Let's see a spot in the FAQs or guidelines that states we don't get paid please? Sorry but I want to see something along those lines one way or the other.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You also get paid for the responses you get on your discussion (actually, from my understanding you don't get paid from discussions with 0 responses). So commenting people answers encourage them to make longer posts on your discussion, increasing the amount you get paid for it.
By the way, I dind't find your 0 discussions, can you target me to them?

I try to comment as much as I can. Sometimes I dont keep up because I can't get on here as much as I would like lately, but I try! I think it's polite and I usually have something to say to the person that responded to me. It's like having a two way talk, I feel rude if I don't respond. So I try my best!
I don't care if I get paid or not for making a comment. That's just how I feel!

I think you should always comment back to someone who is nice enough to respond to your discussion. If you dont comment back they might not answer your discussions again. I think its only fair. I mean how long does it take to write a couple of words back? You play that way and your not have any friends here.

It's my understanding that as long as you didn't start the discussion, you can earn from leaving a comment on another users response, but only on one comment per discussion. It's pretty much considered just a regular response. I think that you just don't earn for comments left under your discussion and comments left on pictures (you might actually earn from that, I'm not sure).

I think that if you make a comment you are responding to the discussion (unless someone can say otherwise). Anyway, this is what I have always assumed.

This is quoted from myLot:
"The idea is pretty simple - if you contribute to the myLot Community - whether it is by posting a new discussion, responding to a current discussion, commenting on a current discussion, or referring friends, you earn money"
So, after reading that, I'm pretty sure you are compensated for making comments.
Regards.

Yeah, that's right. I think most of the people here on myLot just wanted to earn money. About the comments on the responses from your discussions, it's like on a conversation, you started it with a hello, finish it with a good bye. :)
