I love my MacBook but it isn't necessarily the cheapest option out there. I have a friend at work who has a Dell laptop and he hates it. I owned an HP laptop previous to my MacBook and the circuit board fried on it, it was only about a year old. You could check out http://www.notebookreview.com/ they have some more info there. Good luck!

My husband works on computers and he hates Dell, Gateway and HP. He says they mislead customers and they use custom parts that are expensive to replace. Something to keep in mind. Acer is good.

I am a digital designer and I have a Fujitsu because I can draw directly on my screen. If it were not for that, I would either have a Mac or an Acer. It really depends on what you want to do with it.

I think you would check in the dell web site, I am thinking in buy a laptop also, I think I would prefer to buy a laptop with linux and I would get a better laptop for less, if you go to the dell web site there you can configure you laptop like you want and put all the things you want step by step, if you don't know about the computer you would ask to a friend for help configuring and buying your laptop in dell, I can say you that a good laptop need a less 1 Gb of memory RAM and a good processor core duo, the size of the screen and other configuration depends of your needed.
