Melinda Doolittle of American Idol is "one heck of a singer"!

She's out! She did not make it to the final two.. but yes indeed, as what Simon said, she's "one heck of a singer!" Ryan, Paula and Simon agreed that Melinda is most consistent in her performances. Although she started at American Idol with a little confidence in herself (she works as a back-up singer before auditioning for American Idol), her performance is a give-it-all performance and the judges especially Simon sensed that in Melinda. Voice quality - wise and performance wise, Melinda is superb and really has an edger over Blake and Jordin. (But of course, it's the text votes that counts.) So, although she was out from being the final two, she is a already a winner, a success, and an idol for most of the show's viewers!

Oh my god! What happened to America??
How can they vote Melinda off like that. She's by far the best contestant in all Idol history!
I really hope she makes it big on her own.

I had this discussion with my wife regarding the voting out of Melinda.
Simon has been saying she is good rite? Could this have been a show of anit-simon sentiments? The anit-simon mob has helped in the results by voting Melinda off the show?
I don't know, it is just an observation.

I totally agree with you. She is a great singer and she deserves to be the next American Idol. All of her performances were great, unlikely most of them only had a few great performances. But I know she is going to make it and I can't wait to buy a cd. She has a great personality as well.

She will definately go far. This was not the last we saw of her. I have however wished for Jordin to win, so to have her biggest competition voted of pleased me, however Blake is getting dangerous!

I was really shocked. I thought she was going to win it for sure but hey what can you do. That's the way America voted. I think everyone was shocked though especially Simon. He really liked her. Oh well I know she'll be a success anyways. We haven't heard the last of her.

I could not agree with you more. Simon was right, Melinda is a great singer and I was so shocked when Ryan announced the result. It was her that I voted since the start of the season because every time she sings, she does a great job and she's a great performer. Anyways, she was lost in voting part but I am sure a great shinning future awaits her. She'll be very popular someday. I am sure of that!

I was in total shock but I am routing for Blake. As long as Sanjaya didn't win, I really didn't care. This year, no one has really wowed me like in the past. No matter what, I think the top 6 ( Minus Sanjaya) will all get records. Look at the previous winners and runner ups, they all do better without American Idol so don't worry, it won't be the end of Melinda. I knew she was going home when I saw the hometown visits. She didn't have as many fans back home as Blake and Jodan did.

I was shocked and disappointed, but I think the show really helped her and brought out the star in her. Her confidence has increased, she got to developed her showmanship, she got to be out front so now she won't have to be a backround singer anymore. And I am sure there are deals in the wind already waiting for her. I think Simon wants to sign her himself.

yep, she's defintely a winner! i was quite shocked, thought melinda would be able to compete in the finals. but that's ok, it's just the beginning of her career, no? she's already proven that she is a great singer, regardless whether she wins american idol or not ^_^

Well said! Melinda would and should start her journey now towards being one of the best singers in the USA. She is definitely the best singer in this season of AI. She'd be as successful as Daughtry if not better!What happens next week would be only secondary....and there would lesser votes especially from those more matured viewers.
