I was reading a magazine tonight about being invited to a cookout and staying on a diet. The writer suggested if you know they will be grilling, you make yourself a foil packet with some lean meat, veggies and seasonings. That way when you arrive at the cookout, you can ask whomever is cooking to please throw it on the grill for you. I thought that was clever.

It depends how well you know the host. Some people especially here in the South would consider that especially rude.

That can be good. But, some people consider it rude to not eat what they offer you. I know I can't eat certain foods for health reasons and it's hard sometimes to eat out at other people's parties/houses.
