In this country as in many others, people gave up everything they knew and were secure in to start a new life. The hope was to provide a better life for those they loved. Some crossed an ocean, others traveled to unsettled, hostile regions. All the odds were against them succeeding but they did it anyway. Do you think you could have done the same?
