Hey friends I decided to ask you about this because of the incident that took place today ..
I went today to a hotel for my lunch..There was a huge man sitting beside me ..I orderd for my food...But was not able to complete my food because of that man..
He use to eat his food by keeping his mouth wide open(got what i mean)..He chewed such a way that it made an irritating noise to me..I think notonly i was disturbed but some others in the hotel was also irritated by it..
I use to eat it by keeping my mouth shut ,which will not be annoying noise to others....Why dont that man chew without making sound....Whats your opinion...
How you use to eat With mouths open (making irritating noise) or without making much noise...

I chew with my mouth shut. I cant even imagine chewing with my mouth open. I hate it when my daughter talks with food in her mouth. I dont want to see anyones chewed food. He either had n o manners or maybe he cant breath through his nose or something. If I was him I wouldnt eat in public if I could chew with my mouth closed.

Yes that was what i was also thinking ,Why is he irritating others,Why dont he eat in a private cabin or some where in the corner of the hotel...
You said your daughter talks with food in her mouth ...I think it is dangerous to talk with food in the mouth...You should try to change her habit..

I eat with my mouth closed and don't talk with a full mouth. There is nothing more vile than someone who eats with their mouth wide open or talks with their mouth full and there are bits of stray food flying from their mouths as they are yapping.....yuck!!

I was taught to chew with my mouth closed.
I have had to remind my roomie that she needs to not talk with food in her mouth - since she can't see other people & spent several yrs at the blind school where she was one of the few that could see as well as she does I think she doesn't always remember not to do this.
When she had a tooth pulled she complained about not being able to take a bite of food - I told her that she had an un real expectation of what a "bite" of food is - I've noticed her parents also put large bites in so that may be part of the problem. Her mom also talks at the table - but since I've never sat across from her I don't know if she talks with her mouth full.

I don't think there is any room for discussion here. As polite table manners suggest you should always chew with your mouth closed. I do that, everyone around me does that. When you see a person chewing with his mouth wide open you wonder what kind of manners he was taught. Have a nice day!
Cheers :)

It is not a good table manner. Though it annoys me, I dont bother to look at them. I was taught to chew the food silently without vessel sound.

Hi aliyaa, I guess most of us dont realise the way we eat could sometimes irritate others. I think this man really enjoyed his meal and it showed in the way he chewed his food. It is rude especially in public but it is also rude if we try to tell him about his eating manners. I dont really know how I take my food. I eat discreetly with mouth close when in public. But when I am at home, I eat anyhow I like.

You know that is the very reason I have food issues. My mother had a friend that used to chew like that. It was almost like she couldn't breathe when she was chewing so she had to open her mouth. The worst sounds came out of her! I was pretty young then and would actually have to ask to take my food to my room just so I could eat. Even to this day I hate going to restaurants because I hate eating my food around other people. It just grosses me out!

I eat with my mouth closed. I don't want to be rude to others and I was taught this is what you do when you are out just to be considerate.

I chew with my mouth shut. I acnt imagine shewing the food with mouth open like the way goats does. IIf I see someone eating that way... for sure he will get my attention for a couple of minutes...worse maybe until he finish eating his foods. lols...

I hate bad table manners. It costs nothing to use manners and eat in a civilised manner. I won't tolerate people eating with hteir mouths open. I would have said something to him.
I don't eat out often but when I do I take the children and although I'm not strict on table etiquette at home they put it in to use when we are out. Elbows off the table, sit up straight, mouth shut etc. People don't seem to use these manners themselves anymore and certainly don't teach them to their children.

I eat with my mouth closed. It bugs me when people eat with their mouth open, like you said, it's the noise that bothers me.
