What is your opinion about the following statement:
" the internet does nothing else but consume us up to 80 hours a week, wreck relationships and damage health."
Write if you agree or not, and say why. Give arguments.
Also give me some advantages and disadvantages.

I disagree. I know that there are many people who like to spend the majority of there time on the internet, but there are also a lot that don't. The internet has a variety of options you can do, but it wouldn't be anything if not for the real world.
Advantages:
The internet makes our lives easier. Shopping online, paying bills, making bids, etc. You can talk to people through the internet from all parts of the world behind a computer.
Disadvantages:
With all these options on the internet means that you wouldn't have to go out much. This is not good. This keeps many people at home. Sure you can still talk to people through the internet, but just as it is in the real world, there are fakes. I could see how it damages your health physically. Physically because you'd be in front of a computer 80 hours a week without enough exercisers.

This opinion sounds too extreme even there is something true. The Internet world is addictive, your perceptions change themselves and you try to escape the reality. But it also help to discover a lot of new things and to make the real life more colorfull.

Internet is the sea of Information , Entertainment and Communication. Now a days life without Internet is very bore or slow u can get any latest information until it get printed but before it is printed is on internet same is the case with music or movies u can have your projects on net to get or to give help to other who are doing the same kind of stuff so i think Internet as a whole a good thing. But we do have some problems like privacy or P O R N that is the major threat to our younger childes so if that kind of problem are resolved i think net will be a pretty good thingy

i think that what the post is referring to is the fact that some people are addicted to the net, via a certain site or whatever. it really depends on your self control, and your personal habits. if you are someone who goes in deep when into a hobby, i would say stay away from the net, or you'd drown in it really quick.

Welp, it all depends what one uses the internet for in my opinion. The precursor to the World Wide Web would be BBSing, for most they don't even know what it is.
I would have to say, the World Wide Web in the shape and form it is in now is more in my opinion a world wide mess. While the World Wide Web has very good and valid points, it has many down falls and really is more of a entertainment medium to keep people occupied. I personally think, the more people get attached and attracted to the World Wide Web the more people will be isolated from society as a whole. Less interaction with people, but on the other hand it does improve many things ie; reading skills. It also opens up language barriers and allows people to understand possibly the differences between people in other parts of the world. So as far as cosuming us for 80 hours a week, wrecking relationships and damaging health I would say it has no apparent effect on any of them. All them people would stray into the realms regardless if the World Wide Web existed or not, it might open up the possibility for people to cheat more by allowing them to easily communicate with like minded people though online and meet. I'm sure it doesn't help the divorce rate... only adds to it.
My .10 cents worth...
Woot!

I like the internet because i can do research for a short period of time without leaving your house, i can talk to people who are important to me without having to pay alot, i can meet new friends all over the world. The statement mentioned above only applies to those who are not disciplined and doesn't know how to prioritize things. If you are disciplined enough, you know that there are other aspects in life that you are going to attend to and are important. Its up to you to live a balanced life.

That sounds like a coursework title... if the statement was made by someone through personal experiences, that person has no self-control. The internet is nothing more than a giant network of computers. It's what you find out there and what you actually do that consumes your time. On par with gambling, if you set and stick to your gambling limits, you can enjoy gambling as a past-time activity. However, if you have no self-control, gambling takes over your life...
