I could out of anger. My temper is That Bad!!!
But I would never get over it. I would agonize over it every day for the rest of my life.

The nature has provided equal opportunities to live live for all life forms. But at the same time there are certain rules made by it! Under which one animal or life form becomes food for another! Thus to survive one has to take life of others. So in nature natural enemies are attacking each other and the weaker one ends up as the food for the stronger one! This is the law of nature and food chain is the best example which explains how the animals interdependent on each other. But Human being sits on the top and he consumes primary and secondary life forms too !
So in nature an animal normally attack another animal , except for the reasons mentioned above, only when there is a threat that if the opponent is let like that then he may in turn kill the former! So in order to save in own life the animal kills other animal. Or you can say in defense the animal kills another animal!
Similarly , human being who is a social animal also takes the same standing and I think there is no harm, to kill any one as an act of self defence. In case I am attacked or my family members or relatives are attacked and if I feel that their lives are at stake I won't hesitate to kill the person! Other wise I am strictly against violence!
After all survival of the fittest is also an another law of nature, which clearly says that the stronger only can survive on this earth!
So I think to defend one self and killing one for self defence is not a sin and even the law also doesn't punish one for committing such killing!
Thanks for initiating such a thought provoking discussion! Wish you all the best!

I would hope that I would never be put into that position, but I think if someone threatened my children, I would probably kill to protect them...or die trying anyway.

There is only one reason why I could kill someone and this is to preserve my own life. This is what I would call self defense. Other than this, I guess no other reason can justify one man taking another man's life.

If I had to, then yes.
It would have to be a matter of self defense for myself or in defense of someone else...but if it was necessary then yes.
