A Parish priest had won in the last gubernatorial election in the province of Pampanga. He had beaten and won against the incumbent governor and wife of a suspected gambling lord. It's a rare scenario in Philippine politics where the separation of state and church are highly observed (though the church are highly vocal now in criticizing the government). Do you think a priest could do a better governance of the province and will not be blinded by corruption as most public officials do? Does he have what it takes to properly lead his constituents?

It is indeed a rare scenario in Philippine politics and it needs a priest to make a wake up call and it not surprising because the Church is vocal in its criticism of how the government handle country. And regarding the question whether a priest could do a better governance and will not be blinded by corruption I answer it as maybe yes or maybe no for it depends upon the resolution of a person whether a priest or not to make a political will to stand against the current trend of Philippine politics. And regarding the second question maybe he has! why does he dare to run against these two known politicians if he doesn't have the guts to lead his constituents? Let's just watch and see what will happen to Pampanga in the days ahead.

The only problem Fr. Panlilio will face is the difficulty of obtaining a budget and assistance from other politicians in the province he will be running uphill with regards to this for I am sure that they will make things difficult for him with regards to provincial infrastructure and development. Without red tape? I wonder how these congressman and senators will handle a priest who will stand against there crooked political practices of cutting the budget for their personal use. Ihope and pray that he will not succumbed to this trend in Philippine politics.

As a common people, we can easily observed how a government is run, sometimes , we abhor the system as we see all the undesirable acts being perpetrated by the people around. They were talking of ploriferation of jueteng, i dont know about their subject of quarrying and corruption. Well, suddenly a priest will run the governing. I will not judge at this time for we dont know his capabilities, who knows if he can set up a good governance to satisfy the people, because it seems that the people are fed up with the old system. But I pity the old man for he is face with a hard and dangerous task. we know in politics , people are bad and ready to kill which i hope the opposing party will not resort to it.
I will pray for him to be succesful in his goals to provide livelihood to the people and bring prosperity to Pampangga.
Good day

I am bit awed about what happen to Pampanga's by what's come out in recent elections. I think that fame and fortune is no longer a basis to win and also knowing that it is of Gloria Arroyo's place I never thought that a priest would won in the elections. I do like what happen to election nowadays. It only shows that people of Philippines are not blind about what is happening in our country.

i saw the news last night, and i'd say that it is really quite surprising that a priest bested two people who are celebrities in their own right, an alleged jueteng lord's wife and an incumbent governor who's also an action star. maybe the majority of the people of pampanga thinks that there really is something wrong with the way their province is being governed, so they opted to vote for someone who can lead them to a more righteous path. with regards to his knowledge about running a province, the priest said that he will go through schooling to learn the ins and outs of government. let's just hope that those people who are surrounding him will not do anything to jeopardize his clean record.

The problem of the priest is they don't have enough knowledge in politics and hands on experience in running a municipality or town. We will see if Fr. Panlilio could be a good example of a priest leader in Pampanga not only in spiritual aspect but in everything.

"Vox populi, vox dei." Listen to the Voice of the People, for Many Times the Voice of the People Is the Voice of God!". The people of Pampanga speaks for themselves. They want a change in governance. They want to get rid of corruption and violence. We just hope and pray that Fr. Eddie Panlilio would not fail the expectations of the Pampanguenos in their quest for better Pampanga.
