Yes, JVG is a good coach, but honestly speaking, I don't know if he's not fit for T-Mac and Yao. Just take a look at the Rockets this season. Though they finished fifth in the West Standings, they have a superior record against the fourth seed, Utah, snatching the homecourt edge. It's just that they always fell short. Yao and Tracy are yet to enter the quarterfinals. I was shocked when they lost in that Game 7 in which they are favored. They were there, only unfinished, so maybe he's still fit for guys like Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. Well for the new coach, just wish him luck.
My good choice for the next Rockets coach:
Mike "The Czar" Fratello

why do people always put the blame on the coach if it fails to meet the expectations??
players also must be blamed for what ever the outcome of the game. van gundy is a good coach, houston players love him, and the way he orchestrate the play. the Rockets' front desk like to keep Van gundy but its the coach decision to say no and never return as coach for the next season.
as for the stats, van gundy guided houston to a 182-146 (.555) record. Van gundy also led rockets to the playoffs three times during his four season in the ball club (20004, 2005, 2007. is this the stats of a coach that you "UNFIT FOR THE ROCKETS" ??

I definitely feel that Houston will be a better team without him as a head coach as he is not capable of taking them to the championship. He is just not the right guy to get the job done there in Houston and they need a coach with a stronger personality and attitude and a bigger commitment to winning. I am sure Yao and Tracy would love to see a new coach and other teams should look out next year.

Jeff has now been replaced by Rick Adelman. Jeff has had playoff success with the Knicks but after 3+ seasons with the rockets and not getting past the first round and not even making it last yr, I feel that its time for a change. Let's just hope that the rockets are still able to do the positive things they were doing under Van Gundy like excellent defense.
With Adelman, I hope that he can somehow combine the defensive mentality of Jeff with the system he had in place in Sacramento when the Kings had a rivalry with the Shaq and Kobe-led Lakers. That Kings team was simply exciting and fun to watch and I'd like the Rockets next yr to be the same. Exciting but also winners

put any coach you prefer to the rockets but still they won't win a championship ring.. T-mac is a great player but he is not a winner. he will just fail his team and himself over and over again.. And as for Yao, yaks his good because his tall, remove his height and he can't even shoot a ball in a point blank range.. The rockets will improve with rick addleman, but i believe they will never be a champion..
