Firefox?

I have heard from others that Firefox is better then your regular internet explorer. I have heard this browser runs faster, has better pop up blocker, has better security, and is just better overall. I have a few quesions about it. If you download it, do you have to uninstall your current browser? Or will it just replace it? How does it work? I will admit, I know very little about computers really. Can someone please explain to me how firefox works? And is it actually better than Internet Explorer?

Firefox is one of the best browser because it is safe to use. It has an advanced security feature which makes it safer to use. It blocks pop-ups which is very good. However, I still used IE for sometime. Have a nice day and God speed!

I've used Firefox since it was called Phoenix, which was fairly long ago, and love it. I haven't tried IE7 so maybe the new features put it close to the Firefox experience but then the computer I use the most is a Mac and Microsoft no longer makes Internet Explorer for OSX so I won't be trying it anytime soon. As the others have said Firefox and IE can exist on the same machine and you can even use both at the same time if you choose. If speed is your concern then you need to use Opera, that is the fastest web browser out there right now.

I have been using Firefox since the summer of last year and let me tell that it's way better than Internet Explorer or IE. It has better internet security which makes browsing safer. What I like about Firefox is the pop up blocker feature that blocks unrequested pop ups. I hate pop ups! I wish I could destroy them all. I think Firefox runs smoother than IE. If you want to install Firefox onto your computer, you can't uninstall your current browser, assuming that you are using IE. In fact, you can't use the internet at all without IE. IE is like encrypted into Windows. It won't replace it either. So when it comes down to it, Firefox is way better than IE.

Yeah, I've been using it for years now and it's so much better than IE. I can't even open IE anymore because it's just such a pain in the butt. But yeah, you don't need to uninstall your previous browser or anything. I'm not sure how it works... lol but it's the same as IE pretty much. Takes some getting use to, but it's great and well worth it.

I'm a big fan of Firefox, but it is not faster than Internet Explorer and uses 2-4 times as much memory. I prefer it because I like the tabbed browsing, CTRL-F for finding words, and just general functionality. It's only a tiny bit slower than IE, but I'm an obsessive computer tech that notices even the most minute details.

It simply installs aside with internet explorer and asks you if you want to use it as a default browser, meaning you can use both internet explorer and Firefox. Firefox has a lot of features which in Internet Explorer 6 and earlier weren't present, but with the introduction of Internet Explorer 7 a lot of this has become available for internet explorer as well. The speed issue is simply optical, there is no true benefit in speed but due to Firefox's method of displaying the page it builds it up from top to bottom pretty much unlike internet explorer which prefers to build it up all at once, making Firefox appear faster but in reality speeds being as good as equal. Security is yet another point which isn't completely valid, they're both as insecure just as all the other major browsers. Since secure software simply doesn't exist. The problem with internet explorer is that it's so popular it is an effective target, whereas Firefox is rather minor and because of that tends to be left alone, making it appear more secure. Myself I have been using Firefox for quite some time now, mainly because it was less of a target for security threats than internet explorer. Over time I grew accustomed to it and barely use internet explorer anymore.

A clean Internet Explorer runs faster than Firefox... the XUL interface lowers the performance of Firefox... Multiple browsers installed is fine, just remember to choose one as your default browser... Have you installed Internet Explorer 7?

If you know what you're doing, it's possible... People just need to quit using Admin accounts for normal computer usage...

Yes, all that you have heard about firefox is 100% true. It is the best browser available right on the net. It has lots of useful options like tabbed browsing, add-ons, etc which you configure to make it more functional and secure and safe.

In i also know little about computers but on the side of browsers if you install that software it will replace the current browser because that is a major browser and it may sometimes serve as a server. unless you have a firewall that will prevent it. that is the little i know.

Yes Firefox is more faster and can browse like IE and if any other websites u want we can have tabbed feature also and also we cannot see the downloads we download while working they run at backside. firefox - Mozilla Firefox
There are several features that would vouch that Firefox is better than Internet Explorer. Aside from that It has better security, pop-blocker and etc. it also has a add-on system in which it would make Firefox better like the Firebug add-on for web developers and stuff like that. You don't need to uninstall your internet explorer because it would not cause conflict on your system.

Well I just started using it and you can keep your other browsers if you really want too. I got rid of IE because it kept crashing or cutting out etc etc. Firefox can be used in conjunction with gmail which is another great product. Unlike IE you can configure firefox to your taste, and interests. Everything from online storage to films. I highly recommend it, also yes the security is better,it has SLIS 128 encryption, so you always know that you are very safe. So please join. also if you like I can give you an invite to gmail to get the full experience of using Firefox/Thunderbird/Mozilla . Just PM me . :)

NO i will not defend IE, Firefox like they all say is better than IE. Secure - YES, stable - YES, speed - if the connection is dial up well i would say YES otherwise you wouldn't notice the difference. The are many sites out there that will only display well with IE so you don't have to uninstall IE or get "IE tab" plug-in and add it from Firefox's Tools\Add-ons menu. I would say, you can concentrate more on responding to myLot discussion with Firefox than using IE. Need I say more?

Yes it's better as compared to IE. It's faster at installation and its customizable. The problem comes when you want a lot of nice extensions which makes it SLOWER. Anyway, it's more secure and better.
