I understand raging had been introduced in colleges in those days for good purpose.Junior students to get interact with senior students. But nowadays boys and girls do raging to hurt the feelings of new students who step into colleges. This had resulted in taking the lives of students in many occasions.some students commit suicide and some were kiled brutally by some senior students.
I wonder how students reach this level to torture other students and failed to realise the fact and spoil their future as the management dismiss them from college.Thier education , career and future is also spoiled.Hope they will face hard days in society after this incident. But its too late for them to realise their errors.
Every year the colleges here in India warn the junior students that if they rag the new commers they will face severe consequences but there always happens some incidents in colleges even after this severe warning.
Parents put lot of effort and spend money to join their children in colleges but these boys and girls when entering into colleges think that they can do whatever they want in this period as students community.I hope in future this sort of heartfeeling raging incidents resulting in loss of lives never take place.
Did you face raging in your college life? If so, how did you handle that situation?

Yes i totally accept ur discussion bcause interaction between the juniour and seniours students must be cool but now-a-days the seniours students are doing and hurting the feelings of juniour students and behaving very hard to them and the judgement from the court is very admireable and all will support to it and the college have to follow the rules and regulations and the complaint came against the ragging they have to punish the student very much but they have to see the student life keeping the FIR against student is spoling the student life.......so they have to change the rules some wat keeping the student life.

I would say raging is the result of indiscipline. I hate this because I have seen many students were crying during raging.
I have never raged any of my juniors during my college days.
Some people will use this as just to mix up with the juniors but some use this to pose as hero among people and in some worst cases, there will be attempts to molest girl students in the name of raging. It should be banned in India

Ragging anyhow, is a barbaric act even if it is in the name of socialising. For socializing why ragging the senior students can host some welcome functions.Ragging itself is teasing as the oxford dictionary describes.Because I know the mental condition of a ragging victim.I've made some research in this field by ragging certain students only for the purpose of research. Its horrible so no to ragging

Ragging now has become socialevil.Earlier it was just for fun but now it has turn out to be a menace which had to be banned. It had already caused so many young good students to take there life.actually it is really difficult to understand the psyche of such people as you have said.what do they get by ruining other peoples life.It is absolutely shame & such students should not be allowed to study.I have never faced ragging as thete was no ragging in our college. Our college mamagement was really strictct in these matters.

I am agree to you about the introduction of the concept of ragging in colleges but now its overall concept has been changed i want to tell you may real life story about ragging when i joined the college after school . i too was ragged a lot what it was a lot of fun at the time as i was of very shy nature and din't talk to anyone. our senoirs make us to dance sing a songs . my voice was ok as per as singing is concern but i always hagitate earlier. I enjoy dance too but i onlt thing was hagitation and lack of confidence. but i still remember those days and thanks to all my those senoirs and the ragging concept who has changed me a lot. and i am now very much comfertable with that change as it helps realy to groome myself and to build confidance.
so overall i have a good experience of ragging. but now a day is has become something else.even the government has to ban it by forming a act. its very sad buy it is the necesty of no w adays a we are hering a much about the bad effects of ragging.

Ragging is legally banned in most colleges but students find this a way to vent their feelings, but when they get too cruel, they must be punished. I have seen people shun colleges that are notorious for ragging even if they provide good education.

You are right friend. Ragging was introduced so that the students have a good relationship with their seniors. Actually, these sorts of incidents occur by two reason. One is that the junior who is being ragged would have reacted rude to their seniors or the seniors would have asked stupid things to their juniors. The students try to show their power and finally end in such quarrels.
Well, i have been ragged and i enjoy ragging. I have made few juniors to cry during the ragging time. But then i wasnt that rude to them but they were very scared of me. Later, it was alright and then we became friends.

In our days ragging used to be a fun. Our seniors did it to teach and help us grow in confidence. These days trend has been changed dramatically. During ragging seniors ask of juniors to do things which we had atleast never thought of or have courage to do. Ragging has gone beyond limits. It is more of a torture than an entertainment nowa days. I am not going to stress upon new inventions in ragging, as I believe it has below standards and no moral values. When I went to college, I was asked to sing few songs and whistle thats it and and on our first day, some seniors came into our classroom pretending to be teachers and principles. They give different punishments to us, but very light ones and at the end of the period they told about them and it was all fun. Authorities are to look into this matter, there should be staff members around especially in the first week, when new students are inducted, also there should be senior staff members in hostels to tackle this all. I recently heard that in some colleges, juniors were asked to strip and do other dirty stuff and it had me upset. What has encouraged seniors to come up with such stupid ideas, I really wonder. Junior students are to be told as to how to defend themselves when in such situations, awareness is the key. Happy Discussions.
