More and more students want to study in "hot" majors. As a result, many students want to give up their interests and study in these areas such as foreign languages, international business and law, etc.
Fewer and fewer students choose scientific majors, such as maths, physics and biology, and art majors, like history, Chinese and philoshphy.
Only a few students can study in these "hot" majors, because the number of these "hot" major is limited. If one has no interest in his work or study, how can he do well? I learned this from one of my classmate. He is from the countryside. His parents are farmers. Though he likes biology, he chose "international business". He wants to live a life which is different from that of his parents.
In the end, he found he was no interested in doing business. He found all the subjects to be tiresome. Maybe this wouldn't have happened if he had chosen his major according to his own interest.
Choosing a major in university does not decided one's
whole life.Majors which are not "hot" today may become the "hot" major of tomorrow.Choosing your major according to your own interests is the best way to succeed.

I think the education system in this country is like that most students lose their interest in subjects and study only when exams are coming up (cramming). Even lecturers who are present are the ones who are not very good at academics, who are good at academics are getting jobs in MNC's and they will not turn upto teaching.

I don't what country are you in,but in China most of the subject you study in the university can't used in the future. So if you aren't interested in it ,it will be a waste of time, and you will not be happy in your study. If you fall in the study, you can study easily and you will have lots of time to join some activities, and you can study some more things.

I don't think I could ever choose a major just because it it popular or profitable. I know that I can't do any job that I'm completely uninterested in, I need to be doing something I really like or it is almost impossible for me to get any work done.
I'm an Illustration major and I did this because I love to draw and create artwork. Even if some people think it is hard to find work in this field, I plan on doing what a lot of artists do to make sure they have a steady income, teach art! I don't think I would be able to do any other job, so that is why I chose this major.

Yes. Interest is most important for any kind of study. But interest depends on many factors. It depends on the institute u chose, the kind of friends who u have, the competition among you, ur emotional behaviour and most importantly the lecturer. I was lost interest in many good subjects because of poor standard lecturers. I should also be blamed but at least 70% due to poor lecturers i lost my interest in some good subjects.

i agree with you. If you choose your interest subject to study, you can do it your best, especially happy to do it.
It is importment to handles the matters by the happy mind.
So you can't feel tired and boring, just want to do it every minute. It encourage you gain more inspirations. It's easy for you to be successful, too.
for me, i love to be a teacher. I think it will be a happy job. I join it,however,it's very busy and laborious.I can find something enjoyment frome it.My students and their parents love to talk with me.I'm happy now.
So choosing an interest subject is very importmant,Just as you say, maybe it's not hot today,"hot" tomorrow.
Choosing one's major according to its own interests is the best way to succeed.

The interest is most important.it's can not imagine, when you don't have any passion on your work.everyday with whine and be tired. In the third year of my university,I began to worry about my future ,because I didn't know what my interest.yes,it hear to be laughed with .At last ,through deeply thought,I found my lost interest. And now I'm happy with my work.

When I first went to college - over 25 years ago - I thought I wanted to major in computer systems. That was the hot ticket back then. I did enjoy it. But, I had to drop out because of unforseen circumstances. Years later (about 15 years laster) I decided to go back to school, but I had found my true love - Accounting - and switched majors. I have always loved math and solving problems so this should have always been my first choice, but I listened to people around me and I went for the popular studies. I still enjoy computers, but I LOVE accounting!

Hi,fei123!
I think in my study,"interest" is the first keypoint but not the most important keypoint."Creation" and "persistency" are the most important keypoints in my study.
If I want to get a high mark,"creation" and "persistency" will help me a lot.But if I just want to learn something more and satisfy my curiosity,"interst" is helpful.

ya I am agree to you that students doesn't have intrest in a particular subject he can't perform well in that subject and it may suffer his overall performance too. what i feel its also depend upon teacher that how can he make study more and more intrested.
i want to tell you about one incident of my life after my higher secondray i was suppose to chose either the madiacl or nonmedical means biology or maths i was good at math but no t intrested much more in biology but my father forced me to take biology as he wants me to be doctor but i want to go in engineering side the they said you study both subjects i tried for both for few months but as i was not intrested in biology at all I gave up and told my parents clearly that i can't continue with biology as i am also suffring my mathematics study too. he agreed and after completion of senoiur secondary exams i did five yeras bachelor degree in architecture and now practicing in my own town as architect.
