What toys do you recommend for a boy child aged between 6 months and 1 year?

I found it a little hard at first to find some toys suited for my son, i have t 2 older girls and it seems easier to find girl toys then boys when they are young. But i did find these really cool tonka trucks that are made out of like soft rubber the wheels are bis and hard but it is a rough tumbler toy and not to easy to get hurt with and when you push on them they make noises, they have the ones that look like dumpers, trains, firetruck you name it i got mine a walmart but i have also seen them in big lots and kmart. Another good toys are the stackers they double as toys and teathers as well as rattles some of the seasme street toys are for younger children too like the phones and they have special little tool kits and benches that you can find. Some toys even marked for an older age will work you just kina gotta look in through the plastic windows to see what parts if any are little and if they can be removed so you dont have to wory about chocking. some toys have one small part in them and they are marked for older kids because of that and if it can be removed that makes it safe for younger. the snap blocks are nice they help with hand eye coridnation. And like i said before i get almost everything at walmart or even dollar stores. Good luck i hope i mentioned something helpful to you

My son loved these toys, you can get them at walmart, target, or kmart http://www.fisher-price.com/nl/infanttoys/section.asp?s=buroll
He played with them until he was 1 1/2 years old and I got them when he was six months old, so I think that was the longest any toys held his attention.

My little one used to play with toys like, cars, soft toys like teddys, dogys but he used to play more with the motorbykes, cars, busses, trains, aeroplanes and i think these are the best toys where the most of the boy chiulds like to play with.

You should look at the Fisher Price collections, there are heaps in there, starting at birth then there's a BIG selection for 6 months + & then from 1 year. Maybe you're just not looking in the right places :) Try eBay, then you can select the right age group for your son.
My daughter will be getting a little telephone for her birthday which is for 1yr but i think you'll find toys for 1 year olds would be ok for him.
My daughter loves her rattly toys, anything colourful with a rattle/bell inside, also anything that makes noise - my daughter has a musical train with animal sounds, she has a dinosaur roll-a-round toy, her favourite things still seem to be her soft toys though, especially the Sesame Street ones - since she watches Sesame Street & can identify with the different characters.

I myself got my son a CD player with animal sounds and musical rhymes which he seems to enjoy. Also there are lots of toothies which he keeps putting in his mouth. But do you think a toy like a train is ok or would the child get hurt putting it in the mouth?
Cheers!
