Do you have a first aid kit in your house? Is it important?

I returned to my parents house two months ago, and from that point it seems like i get injured every two days. Once i had a the ravens attack me, i had my had bumped on the closet, i had my hand cut down from a broken glass and this sounds like an never ending story. But the most bizarre thing is, that they do not have a first aid kit in the house, and each time we had to go the hospital, to fix what was damaged. LOl. Do you have a first aid kit in your house. How important do you think it is to have one? do share.

Oh, yes, we have two, actually. One is in my husband's truck, another in the house. Restocking is done monthly. It is VERY important to have one. Just recently, my husband sat on his fishing knife, and I was able to doctor him up nicely and save a few bucks. One thing I added to both kits is Super glue. Why, you may ask? When I was a vet tech, this is what we used to suture cuts on animals. It works better than sutures to seal a gash, and is faster and more sanitary, too.

That is interesting, i heard that before but i did not believe it, doesn't super glue has poisen stuff in it, and it can harm a human body?

Super Glue is safe to use as a topical treatment for minor cuts. I wouldn't use it for a deep or large cut, obviously, but for a small slice such as I always seem to get when I am peeling potatoes, it works great.

We do have some first aid medicines and other stuffs but we do not have a box containing all of those things. You just have to find where they are in the house. You must be really unlucky because of the accidents that you encounter. Haha! Maybe you should get used to your parent's house first.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad time and hope you are well now. As regarding keeping first aid box at home i surely have one. Rather when ever we happen to take medicine and have unused left with us we put a label on it discribing the circumstances under which it was given by the doctor and store it at a proper place. Incase someone is ill the first thing we do is check up if we have any medicine from the past. If yes that is served first before we actually need to go to a doctor.

We have grandchildren living with us, so a first aid kit is a must especially for boys who are always on the go. I do work on vehicles and i often get cuts, scrapes and bruises so i keep band-aids in my wallet. It's not about if, but it's about when! Take care Liranlgo.

Seems like you've had a series of unfortunate events at your parents house. I hope you're used to the place by now. With kids in the house, it's important that we have a first aid kit. We have band-aids, betadine, ointment, cotton, and some medicine for headache, fever, and upset stomach. But if symptoms persist, that's when we go see the doctor.

Hello, liranlgo,i do not have a first aid box at home but i think it is quite important as we may always have small accidents at home, for example, when we cut our fingers,we can still apply some disinfactants onto our wound and put a plaster there to stop the bleed. It is better to put all those first aid stuff in first aid kit so that we do not have to find those stuff when we need them.

who needs a first aid?? - i just love helping ppl with first aid.
oh dear, take care of yourself. even i am kind of prone to cuts and burns. i am the careless sort who would go the round about way to ensure accidents. LOL..(my mom says so). YES, i do have a first aid box in my house. it has everything starting from scalpel to antiseptics. i won an award for a project regarding the "best organised" FIRST AID KIT when i was in my teens and still contemplate that. (obviously, that was the last time someone told me that i was organised)! i quite like this first aider job, i love when the kids surrounds me asking for a band-aid or a bruise to be cleaned and sterilised. i am the first person to be contacted on having a casualty around. this feels great!

Well I don't have a full-on first aid kit. I know where the bandaides and bandages are, and that reminds me I should get some disinfectant. But a tissue is always handy. You have been in the wars lately - that's an old fashioned saying! Do you think your run of bumps and bruises is over now?

Yes I do have one and all my household members know exactly where it is and I do a check every two months. I am sure that in your country in every if not most offices has the kit. Some individuals may not have a complete kit but would have at least the basic necessities. I am sure that in the past, there were some injuries sustain in your family. What did you do?

Well i lived for the last 15 years apart from my close family, so i always had to cope with those injuries alone. I know that my father has his unique creative ways of solving injuries when they happen. :)

Yes I do. I do think it is important too - both to have it and to know where it is kept (lol). No one wants to get into accidents. But precautions never hurt.

Now, I have a first Aid kit at home. I was struck empty handled when my girls fell and have a pretty deep cut on her leg and I was strugling to find medicine to clean her wound and dress her wound up. In the end I had to rush out to get the necessary medicine, and from that moment onward, I build up a small little first aid kit with all the standard and neccessary medicine that my family will likely to use.

Hello, liranlgo. Sorry to hear your unfortunate experiences two months ago.Are you OK now? I think it's important for each family to prepare a first aid kid. It's convenient for us to deal with some small injuries at home. That'll save our time to go to hospital and treat our injuries on time. Wish you have a happy day! ^_^

We have a first aid kit in each bathroom. I think its important to have one for minor scrapes. My daughter is accident prone and always thought she would grow out of it. She hasn't yet and is a college student.

Liran! You should be more careful... I think a first aid kit is a must in every house. It doesn't have to be filled with every mediine in the market - a few band aids, iodine and stuff like that. We have a first aid kit, and in the house I have just bought, we are about to buy one also (especialy since our suroundings are still a construction site).

We don't though I really want to get one because it would be so handy. But we do have a home remedies book that I often use whenever there's an emergency in the house and I think it really helps. It's almost like a first aid kit because it tells us what everyday ordinary product to use on a burn, cut or sprain. But one of these days, I'm going to convince my mom to buy one. It's always better to be prepared than sorry.

I think it's important to have a first aid kit, especially if you kids.If not for yourself then do it for them.Accidents happen and a few minutes can make the difference.
