it seems that a lot of us now depends so much on the internet. this dependence includes naming pets and children. i can understand this. we will be able to find more desirable names from the internet fast and quick.

We chose our cats through crime legends, music & science, lol. My oldest cat is about 2 years old, very petite, brown/grey/striped...some say she's ugly. Her name is Bonny Parker (remember the notorius bankrobbers Bonny & Clyde)- crime legends. Her firstborn from her 1st litter of 3 we kept. She (or so we thought) was named Angel, beautiful ball of ginger fluff. Turns out Angel is a boy, so we change to Billy Angel - music. No idea what cat family he's from, something between persian & baby bear! Bonny's last litter happened on our bed, & ended up to be 7. I kept the first born again, he was snow white. By 6 weeks old he has changed into some kind of siamese/tonkanese with black face, blacktipped ears, tail & feet. His name is Einstein - science.
So I think we're a pretty silly family...

allow me to make it more general to become pet names. my pets get their names based on my observations about them or from where i get them. if it is a gift, it will get a derivative from the giver for a name. the color of its hair can also be an influence. the last pet we have had got its name from her slurping habit. the cat was named lucky because, he was lucky enough that my son liked it. i was about to throw it away.

We usually got really creative about them.. they had long names that got shortened for the most part:
Our feral kitten that turned into a lovely housecat was Space Cadey, aka Spacey.
Our rescued abandoned kitten was Samurai Pizza Cat or Pizza.
The little red manx kitten we found in our hayshed was Josie and the Pussycats or Josie.
Our black male manx we got from my aunt and uncle was Burnt Biscuit or Biscuit.
My Norwegian Forest Cat is Xenia Onatopp or Onye (Pronounced ON-YA).

I generally let my cats pick their names or make them up myself. Sometimes I've been known to use names from mythologies or something as well. Usually I try to be creative and make up something that suits the cat particularly well and that the cat likes. Maybe I'm just silly but I always ask my cat about the name first and whatever name it responds to best or shows most interest in is the name it gets.
