Ok Some of you know i am travelling to Arizona in July. I am taking a bus and it will take me about 2 days to get there. Heres the problems I face:
1: I can't sleep siting up or even leaning back. So if the buses are crowded I will just stay awake all day and all night
2. I get car sick if I read or do anything that involves looking away from the windows or bus(such as knitting, playing games , watching a movie or tv etc...) i do ok as long as I just sit and look out the window.
I can socialize with others if they want to talk but sometimes you get people who don't want to talk. So, My question is how can I pass the time while riding on the bus. I need some ingenoius creative ways that wont cause me to get sick.

How about CD or cassette player? Listen to music or how about some of the great books on tape you can get now.
I feel for you - I'd go crazy that long in a car, not driving, and not be able to either read or crochett.

That would work - you'd have hours and hours of listening that way, just make sure you have plenty of batteries :)
Gee Sis we actually found something we're not alike in - I've never had any problem with anything traveling except for planes - there's just something not right about that big chunk of metal being up in the air. I've flown hundreds of times but I still get white knuckles holding on tight to the seat.

Hey I know what I would be doing - I got new digital camera with some of my tax return, I'd be taking a million pictures along the way.

Your journey is for 2 days so there will be a facility of showing movies. Try to watch movies, looking sites through window. This is my best time pass for long route journey. We can pass 2-3 hours in a picture but should be interesting. You can also use walkman which will not disturb to others. Keep cds as per your choice. Only one thing cannot pass time. You need to plan in different different types of programme of 1-2 hours. Change it frequently. Sleeping is also good time pass but within 2 days, you will waste only around 12-14 hours. Rest of the time you will have to divide in such a way that you do not get bore. Reading is really not possible. Day time you can watch scenes outside. This is my best time pass in any journey.

You could ask the driver if you could share the driving! No, i don't think that will work. You have to be union i think! Check the back of the bus. There used to be a long bench seat back there. Perhaps but some gravol pills, they do cause drowsiness, but it's better than upchucking and causing a scene. Maybe not, this could be an interesting trip! Don't forget the air-freshener?
Take care Mssnow.

Thanks but those pills dont help, they make me sick . lol. Yes I know about the back of the bus but like i said if its crowded you sit where you sit and you only get one seat. lol. If i can get two seats i will. But i don't expect that to happen in july lol. Thanks and have a great day.

Not sure if you have the necessary equipment, my princess. If you do, listen to some music. Or download some useful podcasts that interest you. Just listen.

wow, 2 days on buses, that's really long. May be u can think of writing a novel. Most of the time, u dun need to stare at ur notepad, u just tot of the character, the scenario, the storyboard and get the points on your notepad. U can even scratch on it.

Hey may have an idea here though - you can't write but we all know from your video thing you can talk. If you don't have one pick up a cheap recorder and put your words for your novel on tape. When you get home you can transcribe them.

My thoughts are take a plane cause it is faster, take a train cause it is fun, drive your own car cause you have more control over when and where you stop, fire up the motorcycle and cruise to Arizona. LOL I was born and raised in Arizona so I really want to go with you. I am a pretty good talker so I could keep you quite entertained. I am changing clothes and packing my bags so I can go too.

Well mssnow, not a whole lot of options to choose from. None the less.. here's an idea and I'm hoping you're very skilled in this area. We know that you can't do anything that prevent you from looking outside the window. So I propose that you... draw. Get yourself a scrapbook and like I said before, I'm "hoping" you're skilled.... drawing images of places you pass-by on you trip. If you can do this (draw) make sure you're near a window. How that for an idea? Does that help Mssnow?

Geee, Thats a tough one, I think after 18 to 24 hours I would just pass out. If you have a camara you could try to find things to take pictures of. I would think you could enjoy the sites but that would get old after the first 10 hours or so. Sounds like its going to looong ride. Take care, Terry

Hi Snow, hope all is well.
Hmmmm this is a toughy! Not too many choices for someone who gets sick so easily. The only suggestions that I can think of are listening to music, and crossing your fingers that you get someone that is also very chatty. Now a days busses seem to have movies playing too so hopefully you will luck in and get one of those. Good Luck my friend!

If it were me I would definitely bring a walk man to listen to music. You could try counting things also like billboards or tractor trailer trucks. This is a tough question since anything that involves your hands will make you sick. You could also try taking a motion sickness pill and bring things that you can do with your hands. But I would try t his on a short run (the pill) just in case, but the motion sickness pill should work. Good luck!

i never been that long on a bus, but when i do, i usually take my cd walkman, heap cds and heap batteries lol and just listening to music and look out the window. i know its hard to sleep upright but when you start getting tired and your body is sick of doing nothing and you rest you head you eyes might shut.
i use to get sick when reading and driving a long but i have seem to get out of it a bit, so maybe just a magazine or 2 take on there and you could read in short period of times if you know what i mean. otherwise instead of being a 2 day trip it will feel like 5 days.
what about do you like drawing, sometimes if theres a meal tray on the bus, i put that down and put paper on it and draw or write a letter to someone. or even try and write a poem, (but i use to get sick to so i couldnt do that all very long either)

Music. Bring headphones and just hang out watching the scenery.
