How to increase referrals?

Can anyone please give me tips how to increase my referrals? I am member of some paid per click sites here and says that I'll earn more if have lots of referrals. Although I know that it has to start with my own friends, I'm interested how can I refer people I do not know?

Do same as everybody: post topics like "I get $$$ from (insert your referral-link here)". It is one way. i think beest way would be starting a website where are your referral links and then drive traffic to that site. Making popular website is damn hard, but if you manage to do it you get referrals.

I would agree, most of my friends are either not old enuff e.g. under 18 or are not interested, being located outside the US doesn't help either with other sites and am left relying on referrals of which I have none.
