Who is to blame for the current state of worldwide terrorism?

Many have been pointing their fingers to Islamic fundamentalists as the cause of the terrorism that the West is supposedly trying to destroy. Names like Bin Laden, Saddam Hussain and their ilk have been mentioned as promotor of terrorism. I am not sure whom to point my fingers at. It could be possible that each of us in our small way contributed to the rise of terrorism. Why? Maybe, our biases, our cynism, our intolerance may have helped breed terrorists from far and wide.

History points a pretty direct finger at western imperialism as a primary cause of terrorism. The US and Britain love to ignore that fact but you can lay the middle east's troubles squarely at their feet. As an aside, only the Bush administration ever claimed that Hussein was a promoter of terrorism. And we know how accurate he has been.

Huh? Bush accurate on Saddam? Come on man, the USA has been in Iraq for years now but to this day not a single weapon of mass destruction has been found. And this was the pretext of Bush when he rallied the West to invade Iraq.

Sorry you seem to have missed the sarcasm. Bush has been the only one who claimed Hussein as a promoter of terrorism. Any middle east academic can tell you that Hussein was considered an enemy by most of the Islamic groups because he ran a secular regime. The "accurate" comment was a allusion to the fact that Bush has never been accurate.

I stand corrected. I glossed over the real intent of your last sentence. I should have taken a deep breath before writing my response. My apology. You're right about Bush and I don't mean about Iraq only.

Terror is terror. It needs to be stopped. No one deserves to be terrorized. To heal the terrorists is to make them watch " the sound of music" to deviate their attention in terrorism.

I agree with you that terrorism should be stopped. However, how? Catching the perpetrators won't solve the problem. You kill one terrorist and many more will take his place. I guess, the best way to control terrorism is to eliminate the cause. But the bigger problem is what are the causes of terrorism the world now experiences?

It's impossible to define terror especially in a place like this with people from all over the world. Remeber that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.
