I'm sitting here eating a bowl of vegetable soup. It has kidney beans in it and that got me to thinking about chili and about how long it's been since I've had it. I'm not a huge fan of kidney beans but they are okay. Does anyone have a good recipe for beanless chili?

I make a very easy, basic chili. I do put kidney beans in it, but you can leave them out. It is 2 cans of tomato soup, 1 can of tomato sauce, ground beef and chili powder to taste. Cook in crock pot and enjoy.

I put the soup in with no water. The tomato sauce is the same size as a soup can size. I usually will use about 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef. I like the spicey taste, so I add chili powder to the ground beef after cooking it, and also to the soup mixture. I put it in the crock pot for about 6 or more hours on low.

That definitely sounds easy. Are the soup put in without the water? What size can of tomato sauce? How much ground beef do you normally use? One last question...how long do you leave it in the crockpot for?

I like making my chili in a crock pot. It allows me to come home from work and have a hot filling meal waiting for me. Here is my recipe... Crock pot Chili 1 can of black beans (drained...optional) 1 jar salsa (your favorite kind and heat) 1 can of corn (drained) 2 lbs. hamburger 2 onions, chopped 1 bell pepper 1 clove garlic 3 tbsp. chili powder 1 tsp. cumin 1 tsp. pepper Salt to taste (you can always add more later) Put all ingredients into crock pot in order. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours, 5 to 6 hours on high. You can add and change things as you see fit. This recipe is pretty flexible. I serve it with cheddar cheese on top. You can also serve with Sour Cream, and/or guacamole. I also like having corn chips with my chili. Enjoy!

Thanks! That sounds really good. I love my Crock Pot. It's always nice to make something and walk away and come back to it later! This recipe sounds really tasty and I'll definitely have to try it our some time. The salsa and such really gives it enough "juice"? And the ground beef goes in, raw or cooked?

Same as chili with beans just add more meat and vegetables instead of beans.
