i just read the newsletter of windows secrets. i was shocked to know that the Bank Cards of the subscribers are charged every year automatically. most of the companies do not provide option NOT TO be charged automatically, even if it is provided, it is not easily noticeable.
Microsoft, McAfee, Symantec, zone alarm etc are in the league.
it is truly laborious task to get these charges stopped ! pls read the entire article here !

Thanks for sharing. I found this to be very useful information--useful enough to pass on to my readers.

Yes, I read in an article that was similar in PC magazine. You have to read the terms of agreement otherwise you could be charged each year. If you don't want to do that, then you can call the company to complain. Because we don't want to be automatically charged without our authorization, or you can use software that is not automatically charged like Norton Antivirus :(.

Microsoft what?
I bought norton 2004 and symantec and my father never got repeatedly charged. As for McAfree, I don't use it and I no longer use norton.
I'm sure it's only re-billing those who put that option on unless they want to be done..

The problem I would have with something like this is that they hide these details from you. I am actually someone who dreads a "window" of vulnerablility between subscription expiration and renewal, so I might find this convenient as long as they were open with me about it.
Nevertheless, I am a tightwad. I like free stuff. I have an all-in-one suite called AOL Safety and Security Center. I'm a tech, and I'd tend to favor dedicated, standalone products over combo deals, but I have a lot of faith in McAfee's newest firewalls. And McAfee doesn't make annual charges to my credit card for this one! :)
