How did you get your website?
Do you pay for it or use one of the free ones?
Which one is the best place to get one?
Do you use it for person stuff or to promote your online businesses?
What are the good and bad things to look for .
I want to have a website but am sorta a dummy about these things.
Any suggestions?
I would also like to have a couple of blogs about different things.
Can anyone here help me?

Your best bet is to go to Blogger: http://www.blogger.com and let their excellent admin guide you thru the whole process... you have to spend the time, but you'll be better off for it... they will even show you how to make money with your new blog and how to set up as many as you may need...
Yes, i do use my blogs and websites to promote my business, which involves helping people just like you, in getting started...
You are very fortunate, in that you have stuff available to help you, that didn't exist at the time I decided to start a business.
Take full advantage of it ! :)

It's always better to use paid web hosting rather than free web hosting. Paid web hosting looks more professional. It also give you more storage, more bandwidth, and it's more reliable. You can check out my blog for cheap webhosting options if you want to go with the paid option.
There are lots of good sites to get free blogs. www.blogger.com is probably the easiest one to set up and you can have multiple blogs on the same account.

I've hade a free business website for over 4 years. It's provided by a business and social group I belong to called AdlandPro.
It's called http://www.lloydsgourmetfoods.com
Check it out and tell me what you think about it.

Thanks for the compliment. I am not a chef. I just wanted to provide a site that offers great gourmet foods.
I made arrangements with all the suppliers on my site and I earn a little money every month from them.

I have both a website and two different blogs. You might find one of my blogs: Writing 4 $Dollars$ (http://www.writing-4-dollars.blogspot.com) especially useful; it focuses on making money writing and blogging and has several helpful posts about starting a blog. My other blog is also a blogger blog. The link for it is: http://www.meh-this-n-that.blogspot.com. Both of them are hosted on blogger. It is a free host and is very simple to set up and post to.
My website is for our horse ranch and has our available horses and colts that are for sale as well as our brood stock. It is hosted on a site that has a fairly simple to use web builder and is fairly inexpensive. It only cost me around $50 a year for hosting. You can visit it here: http://www.walkingh.com
I would recommend using a web host that supplies a web builder - it is much simpler for a beginner. Also I would recommend using blogger for your blogs - it is free and user friendly. Hope this helps.

Well, I am a uniformed service member and I have a blog about personal finance that pertains to military members. However, I do give good advice for everyone so come ans visit my site!!! I am at a conference in Maryland so I just have a minute to type. I use a free blog until I am able to build a lot of traffic and learn the ropes of a blog.

I have a blog on a free hosting service, but own domain. In a couple of weeks I'll also be transferring it to a paid hosting service along for better stability.
It wasn't my first site by far, even not first blog. My third of fourth blog or so I believe but definitely longest running so far. As for sites, uncountable how many I had already by myself and what I adminned along.
These days I'd say paid hosting has become so cheap and compared to free hosting so advanced it in many cases might simply be your first choice, for blogs you could also use wordpress.com in example although you lack some customizability then which you might want to see.

I have always had a personal web page out there that I have done myself. My ISP offers web space so I've always taken advantage of it. It's not great, but it's good enough for what I do with it. I try to keep it updated and current, but don't always have the time. http://mysite.verizon.net/reinydawn/
I also have a couple websites for my business. They're free to me - the company pays for them. I do have to pay for the domain name though - through godaddy.com - and I have it redirected to my sites. www.HappyWithSuccess.com and www.HappyWithHealth.com
I have never blogged, but would like to try it one day. It seems pretty interesting.

I have to agree with a few others that stated that a paid one is much better to go with. I use http://godaddy.com for my hosting needs. I have their mid-range plan but it allows me to host several domains in one plan instead of several separate ones. I got a great deal and I love it. I host several sites with them and I've had no complaints at all. I would suggest staying away from Powweb, I was with them for a while but they got bought out in the last year and went down big time. If you want to check out one of my sites I have one listed in my profile and here is one of my others: http://emeraldisles.us If you have any questions about Godaddy or websites I'll be glad to help.

I had a personal website in the past that I used to post my writings on. After that I had a Nightmare on Elm Street website, and now I work on a website for my school's club, The Alliance. I should blog online because my life is a stupid circus. Horrible. I'm just thinking about tonight, and I could write an amazing blog. lol

I have two free blogs at Blogger.com, and I really like the service. I use my blogs to promote my work at Associated Content. But if I were going to set up a full website, I would definitely use a paid service -- free servers don't generally have good support, and the sites won't look as nice.
