They're not new. They've been around for quite awhile now. So long that I've already seen a couple in shelters (probably 10 or so).
I hope it won't be popular. But then again, I hope all rabbit breeds won't be popular. Because that way, less people will buy them on impulse and less people will dump them in the shelters.
People need to realize that rabbits aren't just cute stuffed animals, they are a 10+ year commitment. There are so many homeless rabbits out there.

No, they are not "new", they have been around for many years, but they are "new" to some people that have not seen them bwfore. Yes, they are a commitment and anyone who owns one hopefully will realize that before they purchase one. There are many responsible rabbit owners out there and if they are part of the rabbit community, they take their rabbits care and commitment seriously. Not everyone is irresponsibble when it comes to pet ownership...no matter what pet it is. You find many unwanted pets in shelters, not just rabbits. But, by far...you see alot less than other forgotten pets such as cats and dogs.

Just because a lot less rabbits than dogs and cats are dumped, that doesn't mean it's right.
Millions of dogs and cats die each year and maybe "only" a couple million rabbits. But hey, to those rabbits it makes a difference.
Every shelter I go to has at least 30 rabbits when full (generally always, unless they just euthanized). That's a lot to me. It's too many.
And I'm not really sure what you mean exactly by a rabbit community. But I've known people from all walks of life who treat rabbits like crap. Including breeders that neglect to feed hay, people who have rabbits as pets in tiny cages, and I've even seen a rescue before that kept the rabbits on WIRE floor! So I don't care what community you're from, it doesn't mean people you sell to or adopt to (sell in your case I guess) will treat the rabbits right and not later dump them.
I've seen mixes in shelters, purebreds, and even rabbits with tattoed ears that obviously came from breeders and shows. It seems like the more popular a breed becomes though, the more likely people are to want them. Think 101 Dalmations, Taco Bell chihuahuas, etc. Netherland dwarfs and white easter bunnies come to mind.

Yes, they are beautiful. You are most welcome. I love to share my babies pics and info. I am one a many breeders that are working on perfecting the Lionhead breed and getting them officially recognized as a new breed of rabbit. Thank you for your interest!

I used to breed them. I had chestnuts, blacks and fawns, all double maned, but when we moved our city is not zoned for rabbit breeding so I had to sell my stock. :(
When we move back east, I'm definetly going to get some more. They're so cute
