Is anyone concerned about the effects of global warming and climate change on skiing. In Australia (my home country) we are already starting to see the negative effects of climate change on our ski-fields. When I first started skiing, nearly every year was a good season - now the resorts have to rely on snowmaking and cloud seeding to guarantee snow and they say it can only be guaranteed until 2020. (And I hope to be skiing for longer than that.)
The website: http://www.skiblacklivegreen.com explains the effects of climate change on skiing and the environment in general and has heaps of tips on what we can do about it. You can even add your own tips.

I've been hearing about global warming forever, yet this winter was the BEST winter we have had here in Wisconsin in years. Maybe even this decade. We had TWO 24 inch dumps along with many other snowstorms. Average snowfall is 70" and we got about 200" in some spots! So I'm not really worrying about it.

I have not really thought about that. I love skiing though. It doesnt seem that the climate has really changed much where I ski (western NY). They always make snow anyways. Whenever the temperature gets below 20 degrees (fahrenheit, of course!!!) they start making snow on most slopes.

My skiing trip to sweeden was cancelled this year bacuse of lack of snow. Really annoying, but no it's not something that worries me in my every day life.
