OK, i have a problem....no world changer but still. I am just getting my head

I am just getting my head around the some concepts of Newtonian Physics. I know those with superior knowledge will jump on my inexactitude and ignorence but i could really use some help. OK, here goes: If energy, once created can not be destroyed only spent, which I am led to believe, then I have a problem. If I eat food, i assume i am starting a process creating pottential energy. My body acts as a machine turning this energy in to kinetic energy and this process continues until it is all spent. Now, as I eat I am constantly providing my body with the fuel of energy to spend. However, Newtons Law dictates that once this process has started it can not be stopped? so when I eat my last meal and die, skeptics would have me believe the process does stop. Now either one of the principal scientific laws upon which our knowledge is based is a lie or life after death is a scientific fact I would value your corrections

Like so many analytical and "reasonable" subjects, there is always a for and against. I am no great physics expert and can only look at it from my weird point of view..:-) So the process cannot be stopped. The food goes into energy and the energy gets spent in activity. With creation the energy goes into the created object, which then takes on an essence of who are are. This is why the Samurai sword maker takes his craft so seriously. If you spend the energy in say exercise, that energy goes into the muscles and nervous system which in turn creates more hunger so you take in more energy, taht has been taken from the sun. So all is a circle and circles have no beginning and no end. Now I am getting beyond physics here and into metaphysics (I think) when I say that when you die, your essence is still there in the multi-sensory memories of others (e.g. have you ever felt someone you lost actually as part of you?) - All is one and therefore our essence (energy) is there as part of others living or deceased. If I look carefully, I can find my mother and father within my consciousness - but being experiential, these words are not making a very good job of describing it. In the physical world, everything depends on its opposite to exist, right has to have wrong, up has to have down, clever has to have stupid, yet what opposite can energy have? I can't see there is such a thing as "non-energy" so is not energy the spiritual impressing itself on the physical, trying to merge and become one with it? Is it not the very essence of all existence? I don't know about "correcting" what you've said, but maybe I've just put a different slant on it.

as usual my friend you have added to my knowledge at least. As you no doubt can gather i am still struggling and searching, but at least my brain is still alive blessed be

The journey is the essence of who we are, not the destination :-)

Hi, Lets just back up a minute, "energy, once created can not be destroyed only spent" Lets say instead, energy can neither be created nor destroyed, thought the form that energy takes can be changed. (Actually, since Einstein this known to be false but lets stick with Newtonian Mechanics, lets walk before we run) What is food? Plants or animals - yes? Light energy from the sun falls on the plant. This energy allows a process to take place that combines carbon dioxide from the air with water to make carbohydrates (Sugar)Thus some of the energy from the sun is converted to chemical energy. Now when you eat the plant or animal your body oxidises the carbohydrate (burns it) to release the energy which it converts to kinetic energy when you move a muscle. sound energy when you speak, etc. Lets look at someone walking, the food provides the chemical energy, oxidative phospholation of ADP to ATP converts the chemical energy of the food into a chemical energy the body can use better. The ATP converting back to ADP releases energy at the muscles which is turned into kinetic energy of the person walking. So what happens to the energy then? Ever noticed how you get hot walking and hotter running? That's the energy being lost to the environment as heat. And of course your feet make a noise when the hit the ground, sound energy, etc. When you die, you are full of chemical energy locked up in the substance of your body, decay releases this energy once more. Decaying things get hot, some of the energy goes into the worms and microbes that live of the bodies. Hope that helps a little, come back if you still don't understand all the best urban
