Pain vs. Pleasure

Why is it that in this life, pain is the most ntense experience we seem to have, for every good pleasurable feeling or experience there is alway a painful moment of extreme pain and depression with twice the intensity of our more pleasurable moments?

I think that we all have to experience pain to appreciate the good times and look forward to them. Unfortunately the bad things tend to stay in our mind for longer than the good and hit us hard. I can't say why this is but I definately know where you are coming from.
