i was horrified to watch tv this morning they were talking about global warming and the church in US. half of the church is saying we should care for the land as there are problems out there but the other half are preaching that there is nothing wrong and all the class were asked to raise their hands if they thought there was a problem. not one of them did. i find this very frightening that
a. this is made a religious issue.
b.how dare a church tell their followers that scientests are wrong.
(not saying i always believe the scientest especially where drug companies etc are involved.)
c. a human with a point of veiw can have so much power over so many people

Well, i don't see how it is a religious issue, since it has nothing to do with the religion but where the actual survey was taken. There are plenty of people that disagree with global warming being caused by humans, scientists alike, and I think its ignorant to assume those that disagree are ignorant.

it wasnt really a survey the presenters were in US i dont remember where. they were travelling round the church meetings and sitting in classrooms of students. i agree it shouldnt be to do with religion. but it was being taught that god is responsible for all these things that are happening.

i wouldn't say that those that disagree are ignorant.
i just find it wrong that a church or any other group for that matter can teach these things to people who are in awe. IMO it is not for people to teach it is an open discussion but thats just me. i didnt watch all of the programme but think they did say it was dividing the church in that part of US.

Global warming is really a very very serious issue. This has been depicted in the movie 'Day after tomorrow' (If Im right with the movie name). Even after watching such movies, where they clearly state the reasons, its really pathetic some of us are really too religious to accept such scientific facts.
I believe time will change everything. This has happened even in the past, where many of the scientific facts today were opposed by some religious people in the past, but is accepted today..
But only thing is that, it should not be too late for such people to understand this Global warning. Because there is no use in understanding this issue very late..

i would hope that common sense would take over from religious dogma. but i don't hold out much hope at the moment.
i agree that it is no use in understanding the issue when it's too late.
