Hating people because of where they come from. Why?

I have seen alot of hateful nastey comments on youtube solely based on what country the person came from. I just wanted to see what others thought. I saw a comment on a german's post calling him a "german nazi fascist" when there was absolutly no provocation. His video was some sort of skateboarding game he made up. I wonder; this person wasn't even alive then why does he have to be called this? A comment on americans about being a soul less country of warlords. Why? Do you think the US government holds a conference for the everyday citizens: "Hey guys we want a war. Is that okay with you?" No That doesn't happen. The examples go on and on.... Truth is, everyone has about as much control as the next on what their country/government does or doesn't do. Why on earth would you hate an entire group of people for that? I don't feel it is fair. I also hate getting called a gypsy souly because I am romanian. I am not a gypsy, I do not own a caravan nor do I steal or nomad. Thank you very much.

I agree with you. This kind of hatred is completely uncalled for and I think it stems from ignorance and intolerance. I've met so many people who think that Americans are just blind idiots... but they don't actually know any Americans... as for your example of the German guy. You can't blame him for what happened so long ago.

I try not to assume anything about anyone. I leave it up to individual experience. I mean, even the time I lived in USA I probably had several bad experience with specific American's but I would never say I hate Americans and lump everyone under one group of people. Sheesh. Everyone is different so to say such a thing is far beyond ignorant. :)

Well, discrimination is everywhere. I myself is even tired of discrimination. I just don't understand why people judge others and even call them bad names because they come from other country and they have different culture? anyway, not all people have discriminating attitude. the bad thing is that, when somebody from that particular country made a mistake, the impression is all people in general who come from that certain country are the same. Very unfair judgment. It depends upon that particular person. Not all people are the same even if they come from the same country.

Sometimes it's funny reading those comments and stereotype comments. I don't find anything offending...simly because those people writing it are simply doing it to get a kick out of it!(they think it's funny) some people such as yourself might find it offending for some reason. Why would anyone take anything written on the internet so seriously? The situation would be different if any of those people actually had the balls to say it in your face or make the comment out specifially to you.....you think being called a gypsy is offending...??? Okay, I'm Mexican and I can find at the least 100 words that are worst than that!

Being called a gypsy to my face is what I get. I get it when some people realise that I am not from here. They ask "Where are you from then?" then I tell them and automatically "Ah you are a gypsy then." I wonder what the hell they are talking about as I surely can't look like a dirty, theiving, roming nomad. You can't compare rude names they call you to what they call me, as we are from two very different cultures. What may sound rude to me may not sound so bad to you as you do not understand where I am coming from. I also believe the same in reverse. I am sure there are things that they call Mexicans that I wouldn't understand why it is rude either. You can't say that you know words for yours that is worse than mine.... Because it is differen and you can't compare.

I think that it is very wrong to judge someone solely on the country they are from. I would hate for someone to judge me or my family just because we are Americans, I wish that people would realize that everyone is different, we are all individuals, not molds of our government

I think that is is absolutely disgraceful. I am almost speechless. It is an atrocity how some people choose to act in this manner. You make some very good points and your discussion is very well said. I particularly like the part about the U.S. government holding a conference. I am faced with similar acting people on occasion and am constantly speaking up with the same thoughts as you. What I find is an all too common reaction is more grumbling on how terrible the people are that they just shot down. What really annoys me are those slamming the U.S.A. Many of those soldiers, men and women do not want to be doing what is happening to the innocents that become casualties of war. Specifically when they were in Afghanistan. The point is, we can not control what our governments do. Just because someone lives in the country of a place where someone else doesn't agree with the government actions, doesn't mean the people of that country support the government just because they live there. Your discussion is a very good one and points well made. Thank you. I wish that people would just dummy up and keep their nasty opinions to themselves. Grab a brain and realize the basics. We need way more love in this world and a lot less complaining, finger pointing and name calling. I have yet to understand what compels a person to have so much hatred. Ignorantly accusing the masses, when in fact, it is all about bureaucracy. Maybe if we, as everyday citizens, did have a say that was heard and actually acted on, then these people would have a leg to stand on. For now it is just hot air. Since it is often so vulgar we take note but in the large scope of things, perhaps we could easily just ignore them. I mean it is not like they are saying "the sky is falling" and it actually is, you know? I am appalled at the racist spewing going on in our world. Thanks again for your post *sigh*. May these people find love in their hearts and start to see the light.

sterotyping people because of where they come from is just wrong.Like you said we have no control over what our countries governments do.I will admit growing up I use to sterotype people because of where they were from or because of the way they looked but you shouldn't do that because those particular people you are stereotyping could be some of the greatest people you could ever meet.Ignorance does play a huge role in all of it also and until ignorance disappears hateful nasty stereotyping comments will continue to be made.

You'll never defeat ignorance. People are ignorant because they "choose" to be ignorant! Be thankful that you are NOT part of the ignorance. If a racist "wants" to try to understand another culture, he/she will make the attempt to get to know others. However, the problem is: racists have no desire to get to know another race/culture. This reminds me of dog owners who intentionally make their dogs mean. Some governments actually promote the hatred of other cultures, training their citizens that those cultures/people are inferior and/or vile. If all cultures made an effort to PERSONALLY meet people of other cultures, you might be able to reduce racism, but you'll never be able to completely eliminate it....some people will never change. All we can do is pity them and try to educate them.

I don't understand the mindset for comments like those. There are many good and cool people out there coming from all countries. I can attest that the US government does NOT hold conferences for everyday citizens. Probably a good thing.... I think being from Romania or being called a gypsy could be cool, at times. I guess I just have a romantic picture of gypsies in my head....free-spirited, able to travel at will....stuff like that. Characteristics I would like to have. :)

this is the most touching posting i have come across in my past few days at mylot.ya its such a weird thing that few people categorise the whole nation/race in one category.there are good and bad people everywhere in every race and every nation and every religion.i can sympathise with you on the remarks you got.

I think this is a horrible way to be. Being racist or discrimating on other people based on anything but how that individual acts is very wrong. I believe we have something like that in alot of countrys being a law or something. Well, its human nature however I wouldnt want to be like that. My 2 cents.
