Whats a soulmate?

what is a soulmate & how do you know when you have found yours?Is it really love or someone you feel you truly & deeply understand?
People have said that your soulmate is someone you knew in your last life? so If you have just met someone & you feel you have known them all your life does this make them your soulmate?
I think of my husband as my soulmate because I deeply understand how he feels & I truly love him. But I met one of my friends friends & we hit it off straight away & I felt like I knew her forever yet we have nothing in common

the first thing that pops on my mind whenever i hear the word "soulmate" ---a guy who would be there for the rest of my life.,but as i go deeper and think for another definition for soulmate,
i can say it's about someone who...*can understand your feelings, *believes in you when others are doubting,*fights for you when you finally gives up,*pushes you up when others keeps on putting you down,*you can easily laugh with,*can turn your darkest night into a bright and brilliant day*you can trust with your whole life
soulmate isn't just a man/woman of your life..
it could be your mom, dad, sister, brother, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, teacher or maybe even your own pet..
for me soulmate is the ONE that whenever you're with him/her you just felt contented and happy!---bye!thank you
