I have been to the New Forest today and wow the ponies were everywhere all over town in Burley! It was great to see them and to see their babies and even to be able to pat them! This is quite an experience to have and I was so enthralled by them all! So many of them of all colours! Just a good day! :)

Don't know how you missed this one pal LOL It was quite good and I'm looking forward to going back in August. I love horses too but from the ground, it's alot safer. The last time I rode (9 years ago), I fell off right onto the jumps and broke my ankle - ouch :) xxx

What is a Forest pony? We have mustangs behind my house but there is no way you would ever be able to touch them.

Lucky you, hookfan. I love horses of all sizes and breeds. Would of loved to have just stood there and watched them roam around. My daughter who is now 9 shares my love of the magnificant breeds and wishes for one of her own someday.

I am glad that you had such a lovely day in the New Forest with the ponies. I did not realise they were friendly enough to be petted. I would have been worried about the mare getting upset about what I was doing.
I had the best horse riding experience of my life when a teenager in the New Forest. It was pouring with rain but my sister and I had booked to go on a ride during our holidays. We were the only ones that turned up as the weather was so bad. So we got taken out trail blazing - checking if the paths were still passable. It was the most real riding I have ever done rather than just following the tail of the one in front on stable hire horses. I have never been able to have a horse of my own.

Wow i think they must be cute, but the demands a lot of work when they are young.
