Hello, As we know there is a great feature in Windows called Hibernate , where you can save the state of your system as such and close your system, later which you can open it in the same state. Which one do you prefer ? Proper shutdown and fresh start OR Hibernate and continue ? Did you feel any Performance degradation when using the system after starting from Hibernate ? Lets share.

hibernate - hibernate the pc
I do hibernate normally, but once in a day or once in two days I restart the computer so that all the service can be start properly, I mean of course shut down and start is the best option but its time consuming too and sometimes our work can be of two to three hours and if you need rest hibernate is best option, specially for me because after resuming from hibernate my play list starts from where it stopped:)

This is a very good idea ! Im gonna follow this. Use hibernate often and restart your system once in a few days, so that you clear our the RAM ! Cool man..

I dont use the hibernation feature at all, i just leave my computer in the state that it is but if im finished and wont use it again till the next day then i will shut it down. If im using my laptop then i will just shut the lid which sends it into hybernation so thats unavoidable, but if i use my desktop ((like im using now)) i will just leave it as it is and come back to it later

Are you sure your laptop goes to hibernate when you close the lid ? Because most of the laptops are configured to go to 'Stand By' only and not to Hibernate. If you are sure, did you face any performance degradation after you start again from hibernation ? Thanks for your response.

Yes. Hibernate really helps at such cases like yours, where you need to save your work at the same state. Thanks for your response.

most of the times i prefer the shut down. as in india there is always power failure and when my work is lenthy and i cannot finish it in a single sit i go for hibernate. hibernate is a great option as the speed to resume the session is great.

Yes. Even I like the 'Hibernate' feature a lot. It helps me a lot when I ran out of my laptop battery and I need to switch of the laptop immediately without loosing any data.!

I have Gomez PEER on my machine, and leave it on almost 24/7 so they can use my processor. I turn my monitor off when I go to bed. :P

Well ... i prefer hibernate rather than shutting down my PC... I have got hundreds of software running on my PC due to which it really takes around 5 minutes for my PC to get started propery....and the best thing is that i do not have patience...hence i always use hibernate option... Sometime i do feel degradation in the performance if i use hibernate option for 2-3 days...hence whenever i feel my PC is responding slow..i restart my PC.... One good thing abou selecting hibernate option is that you can start from where you stopped last time..this is really the best thing about hibernate option..no need to again open all the required stuff if there are many...and the best part is it starts within 30 seconds... Well i really do not know the reason wht the performance degrades when i use hibernate option for more than two or three days...let me know the reason if any one here is aware of it....

The performance degradation may be because of the RAM defragmentation and wastage of RAM. Its just my guessing. May be ,just try some free RAM Defragmentation softwares such as Cacheman, and see if your system performance improves after few days of Hibernation.. Let me know if this works out for you ..!
