Any advice for someone considering Associated Content

I recently learned of the existence of Associated Content. Does anyone have any advice regarding them? I would really like to know more about them before I attempt them.

I'm not even sure what they are!? Is it something on the Internet?

Yeah, they are an "user generated content" website. They pay for articles. I am not sure about the rates, having just found the site a couple of days ago. I was hoping to learn some more information about them before submitting anything. As a freelance writer, I like to know what other writers think before dealing with a market. The following is my referral link: http:www.associatedcontent.com/join.html?refer=80362 But as I said, I am hoping that someone with experience with them comes along and can tell me more about what to expect from them.

It is a good site if you really watch your p's and q's. I was paid nicely for the two articles and I have a handful to submit now that I have my own computer again. Wish me luck as I do for you!

I was surprised that they offered me 3.56 for non-exclusive rights to an article that I wrote elsewhere. It was not the five I was hoping for, but it was not the "no thanks" that I expected to get. Of course, the reason I used a "reprint" was that I wanted to walk though the submission process before writing a fresh piece for them. The walk through was a learning experience. There are several steps of the submission process that involves creating blurbs. I am glad that I did the walk though; it is easier for me to create blurbs during the writing process. Luck and inspiration back at you. :)

I started with them in February and was able to earn over $300.00 in about five week's time. I stopped submitting quite as often since March, though, because their level of rejections increased significantly. With the steady flow of writing and income I was experiencing prior to that, it was hard and it stifled my efforts. It's sort of a writer's block type of thing, but I'm sure it'll pass. I've really enjoyed working with them, communicating with other members, participating in the challenges they send through email and participating in the community. If you're looking for something with better pay, you'll have better luck with a company seeking freelance writers rather than a user generated content site. If that isn't an issue for you (the most I've been paid for a piece is $8.17), then you'll fit in with the group just fine.

The reason that I am checking out user generated content sites is that I am looking for something that I can work on between classes. The job market locally frowns on anyone who is not available 24/7. My primary focus come fall semester is my classes; at 41 (42 just a couple of weeks into the semester), I am too old to have time to flunk a class, and to retake it.
