Personally, I think some people like the other poster said have a following. Or they have so many friends that more members see their discussions. I just try to start topics that I think are interesting to me and hope someone else will find an interest in the same topic. If I get just a few responses I am usually happy about it.

I just don't know what does it.I have wondered the same thing myself.WSell it can not be cleavage cause it wont show here. You can be buck naked while starting a discussion and no one will know.I think that some avatars are more attractive then others and will attract more people maybe...I would also say that some have a 'following'.We might find controversal subjects get more responses.Hot button issues will get tons saying you are right and tons to say what an idiot you are.Honey I fyou figure it out I hope you share the nknowledge with me too.

Have 300 friends? Then you have a great chance of getting 100 responses. I've 114 and have yet to hit 100 responses. I don't
care if I ever do either. It's fun and sort of theraputic for
me being here. I may have gotten close to 50 I think. I don't
even keep track so I can't say for sure. Lot's of friends, a
quality post are a couple key factors I'd say.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Very true I would just like to hit 100 responses just once to see what it feels like. I bet it feels pretty good. I was just wondering because I see a couple people here and every time they start a discussion they get over 100 responses. On every discussion and some do it within a 24 hour period. Thanks grandpa Bob!

Well, i think that i know the answer but may be that i am wrong about it. Anyway, i am glad to tell my views. I personally think that there are many reasons, firstly users who have more friends, especially active friends. Secondly, users who ask question type of discussions that is general and a simple one which users from any country can answer. Thirdly, the praticipation on discussions. Its like commenting on responses, asking questions to the responder, overall making discussion more interesting. For this you need to be active. Finally i think that the user needs to add humour to his discussion/responses.
Well this is my opinion. But different people have different opinion.

I wish I knew the answer to that as well. I guess some people are just lucky. I wish I could get like 100 or so responses.

I have seen certain users getting over 100 responses.SO what is there secret? I really dont know. When i checked their friend list one had over 1000 friends so that may have something to do with it.They requested to be friends with so many people.Me I request to be friends if I find that person discussions, have interest i like.I think some just do it to get responses and i have noticed it wit a particular user.

Well, your guess is as good as mine.
From my experience, any discussion to do with My Lot gets me nearing 100 responses.
Any other discussions, gets me from 1 to 25 responses.
I find kids, schooling & certain crimes fairly populr. But there really is no guarantee. Somewtimes I start a discussion on a topic, which consists of a fact, about say, sharks, & very few are interested. If I asked about the best brand of lipsrtick I would probably get a lot more responses.

I don't know Sherry. The topics with questions about smelling underwear got an amazing amount of responses. Go figure!! I chose not to respond to either of those discussions as they were not the kind of discussions that interests me.
Maybe it is easier to keep it simple.
PEACE

It has to be something of interest to that many people.People are only going to respond to" no nosense "subject's. After all we don't have all day to respond to every discussion. There are those (discussion's) that we want to direct our attention to and spend extra time answering.

I think one part of it is posting the right topic at a time people want to discuss it then you can get a good conversation going and lots of people will see the discussion listed as a hot topic and you'll get even more replies.
The other important thing is friends - obviously you need good friends who will make quality posts but if you look at many of the people who get hundreds of responses you'll see that many of them have 1000+ friends. It's pretty obvious that if your post is emailed out to hundreds or thousands of people you will get lots of responses (even if many of them are single sentence replies).
Personally, I'd rather get the quality replies from my select group of friends than loads of replies that don't lead anywhere.

I also want to know what kind of topics would get a hundred responses. I'm lucky if I even get half of a hundred. I've made more than 10 discussions but the most responses I got was around 20+ or something. Good luck to us!
