Do you ever eat just because you feel like chewing on something?

There are lots of times when I eat when I'm not actually hungry. I'm eating because I just feel like chewing on something. I know it's a bad habit and I try to chew on gum instead so I won't gain weight. It makes me wonder though. Pets get chew toys, so why don't they make chew toys for people?

I always feel like eating and if I thought about whether I was hungry I probably wouldn't be. Yes, I think we need chew toys - less calories for sure.

They do make teething rings for babies. We used to put some of them in the freezer when our kids were teething and take them out and let them thaw a bit until they were slightly mushy. The kids love chomping on these while their teeth were trying to come in. Maybe adult teething rings could be a great new product!

It's quite odd that you're eating when your not hungry and the reason is you just like chewing. I've heard people are eating even they are not feeling hungry to avoid malnourishment. But in your case, its a little bit different. I think chew toys are invented for the pets to avoid destruction of home furnitures, rags, carpets, etc.
