A subject does not have to know that they are being hypnotized. Have you ever been out with friends and they wanted to do things that you did not want to do but you did them any ways and it was enjoyable? This is peer pressure. Has any one ever told you to imagine something and you could picture it in your mind? This is power of suggestion. Theses are mild forms of hypnosis. Being put in a trance is the next stage of hypnosis and it does not even mean that the subject will close their eyes. There are several stages of trance which I will not describe to you. Unfortunately too may doctors do not understand hypnosis and think it is hog wash or voodoo. Thee for hypnosis has not advanced as much as it should in this day and age.

Hi! I am a trained Hypnotherapist. I have used hypnotherapy on many clients and I myself went into trance many times. 95% of population can be hypnotised but the level of trance varies from mild to deep trance. But yes a person can not be hypnosised without the person's will and the hypnotist can not make the individual to anything against that invidual's will.
