MyLotters help! I'm invited to a formal wedding this June...my first really formal wedding invitation, actually, and I'm fretting over what to wear and especially what to give.Do I have to choose something from the couples' gift registry? Or is it tacky to give money as a wedding gift? And I'm not even sure how much to spend or give. Hope you can help!

If the wedding is very formal then I would dress formal, I mean depending on the type of wedding your friends/family are having will determine how you might want to dress i.e. if its on the beach, then nice casual beach dress wear, if its in a church, then maybe a nice dress either formal and or casual but dressed up with accesories. If your not comfortable in dresses then a nice dress pants with a shirt or dressy top with heels will go nicely too. If your able to, get yourself pampered and go for a manicure and pedicure and get your hair done (if you want). If they provided a gift registry then I would go with that and buy something within your price range. Hope it works out, good luck!

It is a very formal wedding so I think I would be in a gown. The motif is olive. Do you think i'll pick one in that shade? or will I be mistaken as one from the entourage? is black okay since most of the formal wears comes in black? thanks for helping.
