i've known two languages in my entire life: Filipino/Tagalog (my country's language) and English (the international language). of course i know how to speak and write both languages, although not really perfect in grammar. haha!
but if i were to learn another one, i would prefer to learn French. i want to learn "the language of love". i dunnoh but i find French so classic and so nice to hear. it's like melody to the ears.
how about you? do you have a language you want to learn aside from your own language?

"Good afternoon", it is afternoon there isn't it? Well anyhow, i would like to learn to speak my own language. It is called Cree. I grew up hearing and understanding some of it, but being away from the elders, i've lost what little i knew. My last name is french, but i would still prefer to learn cree. Take care Rojane.

Sir? Now my egos shattered, i feel so old! LOL! Metis' is my nationality and i'm from Northern Alberta Can. I am part Cherokee and French. Dads side, Metis' and French, Moms side. If your interested in learning more, just type in the name Louis Riel, his fight against the Canadian Government is well known throughout Western Canada.
Take care Maam, LOL! See it sounds old! LOL! Later Rojane!

If I could learn a second language it would definitely be Japanese. I listen to Japanese music all the time and watch Japanese TV shows (mostly anime) so I hear the language constantly but I only understand a little bit of it. It's such a beautiful and melodic language for me, I love the way it sounds. Plus, I would be able to watch all of my favorite shows without the subtitles! I also want to live in Japan someday.

really? i think that learning Japanese is hard. not to mention writing them! gawd, Japanese characters all look like the same to me. haha.
but i guess if you really desire it, you will learn it easily. if there's a will, there's a way, right?

thanks meander for giving me hope. :) but it's not actually a question of age here. it's just that i really don't have resources to travel France. i don't think that im capable of saving enough money to visit there. know that you are fortunate that you can visit France. :D not everybody has the opportunity to go there. :) but thanks.

(And I'd like to say something many many many people think about Brasil and it's wrong! Our language ISN'T Spanish! hahahaha Our language is Portuguese, a language that's only a little similar do Spanish but the grammar is different)

Oh, thanks for that information. I'm also not aware of Brasilian language. I didn't think that it was Portuguese.
Anyways, just want to clarify one more thing. Is Brasil really spelled with an "S" and not with a "Z"?
I used to think that it is spelled as B-R-A-Z-I-L. But I've read in one of Paulo Coelho's books where one of his lead character who's a Brazilian spelled her country as B-R-A-S-I-L. So is it really spelled with an "S"? Just for the record. :)

Currently I know four languages- Hindi, English, Bengali and Sanskrit. However, I have a lot of fun learning languages and would love to pick up new languages especially German and Spanish. I picked German as I am an engineer and would love to work in Germany who are usually very dedicated to research and development and have a very scientific temperament. I would also like to learn Spanish because its a very fun language and almost as many people speak Spanish in the world as English. Thus by knowing English and Spanish, I would be comfortable in most parts of the world. But to become the most fully equipped traveler in terms of language , it would most certainly help to learn french, Chinese and Japanese. I know it sounds a bit difficult but wont it be so much fun learning and using such a plethora of languages. Imagine being able to communicate with any human being in any part of the world. And if we look at it from a humourous aspect, I would also like to learn the languages of the Animal Kingdom.

I know only three languages, and they are English, Hindi, and Bengali. If I ever havea chance to learn anotehr, I would go for French and Spanish. I think after English, French is the next most spoken language. Spanish also seems interesting to me. But there is another that has great use in researches, and I am also interested about it very much.......and that is Sanskrit.

It has to be between French and Spanish.I know a bit of French cuz i learned French back in school. So i think I'll choose Spanish.Besides they say that French and Spanish have some similarities.
Spanish is also a beautiful language.French does sound classy.French is kinda difficult though.

My own language is English. In school I learned Spanish and remembered enough of it that when I worked with people who only spoke Spanish I could communicate with them. The language that I would like to learn some day is actually Tagalog. My best friend's family speaks it and I'd really like to understand the gossip! I only know one phrase and one food name after 8 years!
