Can you feed a baby strawberries?

I've been told by several people that I shouldn't give my 11 month old son strawberries yet. Apparently strawberries are a highly allergic food so they say I should wait until he's at least 18 months. But lately I've been seeing more and more baby foods made with strawberries and I've been wondering if any one else has been told they should wait to give their child strawberries?

Hi toyhamarz, I have a 10 month old baby girl I was told not to feed her strawberries so I have not yet. I could not remember why, but thanks for reminding me why. I have also seen a babyfood made with strawberries, bananas and something else I can't remember it is a new babyfood by gerber with dha. Oh and also strawberry banana oatmeal by gerber hmm maybe gerber hasn't heard the things our doctors are saying.

It's strange because when I first started feeding my son food, my friend pointed out to me that they don't make baby food with strawberries in it. And I remember actually looking for food with strawberries the next time I went shopping and not seeing any. And the other day I saw a bunch of things with them in it and I was so confused. I think gerber and our doctors are conspiring to make us crazy haha!

I was told by my son's pediatrician to wait until he was at least 9 months old, but preferrably a year old before introducing them. There are no allergies of any kind that run in my family, or my husband's, so we gave the baby some when he was right around a year old. I would say if you have any history of allergies, it would probably be best to wait until your baby is 18 months old. But if you really want to start them earlier, check with your pediatrician.

Neither me or my husband are allergic to them at all so I thought it was strange to be told to wait that long. I have an appointment soon and I do plan to ask about it.

I think feeding stawberries at the age of 12 or at 13months is the right time and i think it is best to have your pediatrician advise on this matter. Have a nice day.

I haven't heard about that. I have a 9-month-old baby daughter. Once strawberries are in her sight, she will ask for some, and then I'll let her eat one. She can eat two or three strawberries or half a tomato at a time. But nothing bad happens.
