would you say you have clear life goals? for instance, aims to reach certain milestones by a certain age? or career oriented goals that you strive to hit (or have some goals that you have already hit)?
or are you the 'go with the flow' kind of person. a que sera sera type that is content with whatever happens. so long as you're happy, there's no need to strive? if good things happen to you, then it's a happy coincidence?
i suppose both kinds of people achieve happiness their own way, and it's not fair to say one type tends to be happier than the other. but are you happy with the kind that you are? or perhaps you are a certain kind cos you think that makes you happier?

sometimes it is better to go with the flow. Setting goals is a good thing. In life, setting a goal is one thing, achieving it is altogether another. There are many time when external factors does not allow one to achieve one's goal, then the alternative, following with the flow, will just have to do. This will reduce the disappointments one will get in life when one cannot achieve one's goal at the targeted time/self-imposed dateline.
As long as one does not have to worry too much about the next meal, going with the flow sometimes is really nice.
