Yes, If a boy or girl with good education it is necessary that sports or NSS activities are necessary. When you go for an Interview, it has become compulsory in most companies that you are good at athelete or good sports person to find a good job.
I too feel that extra curricular activities is an additonal qualification.
Do you have any certificates for sports excellence in school or college? Was is useful while you attended an interview or applying for a job?

Extra-Curricular activities are important for an all-round development of personality. So it should be a part of the school curriculum. It helps us to recognize our hidden talents and to know what we are good at,apart from the studies.I don't know how important it is in getting a good job.being a good sportsman certainly ensures good health and makes us active. But if you take part in elocution, debates, dramatics, speech competions etc, then certainly it boosts your self confidence in public speaking and you have an extra edge in performing well in job interviews. So in a very important way,we can say that it does help in getting a good job.

Fortunately, I was able to managed my time with extra-curricular activities and academics during my school days. I love sports, in fact I can play, table tennis, badminton, chess and volleyball. I had joined school to school competitions with volleyball though I wasn't able to reach a much higher level competitions such as regional competitions.
I still, play badminton and volleyball even after schooling.
Yes, I think it is a plus point when you are into sports when applying for a job. But just a plus point, good academic records is still the number one basis in getting a job.
