'When I logged on to my internet banking account today,I had typed the password for three times but I got it wrong, and my account was frozen,I could not transfer any money now. May be I had forgotten the password since I had not logged on for ages, and as i had joined more and more online sites now, sometimes i got confused with my passwords.' Do you have different passwords for different sites like your email, bank account, etc? Do you always get them right? Do you drop down the passwords for all your personal accounts? Or do you just remember it by your mind? Do you use your birthday or age for your passwords? Do you think your passwords are safe at all? Sometimes,i am a bit worried with the internet banking passwords and i change it at times, may be that is the reason why i cannot logon today as i have forgetten the last password I had. Do you change your passwords regularly and do you think it will be safer? Do shares your thoughts:)

Hello easy888, I have made it a habit of writing down all my passwords in a small book I called "My secrets." For internet banking, I usually changed my passwords when I have been using it frequently. I dont use birthdays or any specified date as passwords. I used a combination of numbers and alphabets.

Oh,but do you feel unsafe in having the 'My secrets',if someone flip it over, they may be able to access your personal email and stuff like that,I think you may have some secrets in your emails, don;t you?

No, because I make "my secrets" looks like it is not an important book. I always carry it around so nobody ever have a chance to get hold of it. Besides, I dont put the exact websites URL so it is difficult for anyone to guess which is which. To depend to much on memory proves to be a setback to me when all of sudden I got mixed up and forgotten which passwords to use. So, "my secrets" was born.

So even other people pick up'my secrets' ,those passwords are like the codes which can never be understood.:)You are the only person who can decode them.

I use a variety of passwords, safety from each varying for each password as well. Sometimes I tend to forget which I used where so I have to guess every now and then which I used where which can result in accounts being frozen, but usually that's not the case.

You know it is very inconvinient to have my account frozen as i have to wait for at least few days to reactivate my account again. The efficiency of the bank is low in my country:P

My bank makes me change my password every month and of course I forget sometimes. I have been locked out of my account before because I forgot the password. It gets frustrating. So I have been writing them down in a notebook that I keep next to the computer desk. I don't use my birthdate or age in any of my passwords. I try to come up with unique ones.

Except my on line bank accounts or any other band accounts for the rest of internet sites i use same password.I know it's not the best thing I can to do but it's very hard to have different password for each site. After all the hackers I'm sure they know them job very well so I don't thing it's safe even if I have many passwords. Now about the bank accounts I write them somewhere and I gave a backup of them to my brother.

Not only the hackers but in fact there are many programs which can track your password, therefore,it is very dangerous to access any webpage where you have to type in your passwords to log on in the public computers like internet cafe,if someone try to track your passwords on purpose, they can do it easily.

I only use 4 passwords in total for all the accounts that I have on the internet, this makes it really easy for me to remember them. However, I do jot them down in my "little black book" just incase I forget them. When I change them, I change it in the book as well, give it a try!

Hi, easy888. I am not too bad remembering a couple of passwords, but just after new years, I did have a bit of trouble with my bank card. I'd gone to the petrol station to fill up with petrol, and because I'd only recently changed accounts, my pin number was different. I tried my old one without even thinking, and when it was declined, I realised what I had done, and then had a mind blank and had no idea what my new number was. I tried another number and got it wrong, so I didn't try again. Luckily my wife was with me so I could use her card. Silly thing is, I remembered the number 5 minutes after I left the petrol station! Think I must be getting old!!

Just press the cancel button if you cannot remember,it is not good to guess when using ATM or the card will be eaten. I have learned a lesson already.

Yes, I would've had one more go, and then my bankcard would've been taken, so that's why I didn't try the third time. I knew I'd eventually remember.

If you get confused with passwords the best thing is to have a limited number of passwords. I use something that is easy to remember. When it comes to PIN numbers for bank teller machines you can easily visualise it. 14258 is "squatting man". That is what you get if you draw a line along the numbers. 5952 is "one-thirty", the time denoted if the hands of the clock are on those numbers.

Remembering Numbers - By drawing a line across numbers you can visualise it as a picture.
From the image you'll understand. What I do is I draw a line across the numbers and then think of it as a picture.

Hello easy. It has been my habit to use different passwords for every sites I joined. I make sure to jut down everything in my daily planner. I don't have any problem doing it since no one is using my computer and no one dared to look through my planner. Everyone in my household respect my privacy. I can understand that a professional hackers can easily access our passwords. If I feel that its necessary to change my passwords, then I will. I don't use passwords based on my or anyone's birthday. Not even my mobile numbers. The numbers I used are all in random orders. But all my passwords have specific meanings so its easier for me to remember even without checking my planner.

I have to admit that I usually always use the same password so that I can remember it. I may vary it by adding numbers and with more secured accounts, I use something entirely different. I probably have changed them from time to time, not because I wanted to, but because I had forgot one or two and needed to change them based on that.

just keep a password which is the same for all your accounts, but that password should be something which is really hard to break, so that people wont be able to get into any of your things

passwords!!...i have so many accounts n so many passwords that if i try to keep all of them in mind i may end up in coma..lol...i hav adopted a gr8 and effective way of solving this crap...for example i use 3 letters...now if i am using MYLOT the password can be MNO 3 letters beginning from 'M'...and the others likewise...now u may think that can be predictable n anyone can break thrugh into my account...but hold on...u can keep using the month numbers for keeping the password updated like...in March u can keep the MYLOT password to be PQR starting with 3 letters(March=3) after M....think bout it ...not a bad idea...lol

I sign up for lots of things, and I use lots of different passwords. Some of them I use more than once. I keep a notebook, with alphabet tabs. I try, notice, I said try, to remember to write down each new password in the alphabetical slot it belongs in. I am in good shape, until I mislay the book. I write other important things in it as well. I do not take that book out in the world with me, for fear someone else would get ahold of it. I will probably go in and change some passwords in the near future, as I have not done so in a very long time. Keeping up with that is very important for preserving your own identity and security.

Oh yes, I have a terrible time remembering all those passwords! Despite being told by my son, who works in internet security, not to write down my passwords, I have them written down! I do have a different password for every site of which I am a member. At very important sites, like my online banking, I change my password every 60 days. I never use anything remotely associate with me as a part of my passwords. For instance I do not use my social security number or any part of it, my birthdate, my children's names, anniversay ...nothing like that! That is why they are so hard to remember!

hello easy, i understand the situation you are facing currently and i admit that it is difficult for the person to remember their passwords if they are using many online sites, i too have faced similar situations, when i type down wrong passwords, however now i note it down in the diary since i know it would be extremely difficult to remember them

I tend to forget things easily and there are very few things to what I remember my password, i might know about 3 passwords I use most and out of over 10 things I'm signed up for I'm only sure of 4. So out of over 10 things I only know the exact password to 4 of those sites! I use password recovery a lot!

I also use it occasionally,I think it is important to set up easy a secret question and answer for the passwords so that we will still know what our passwords are when we forget them when logging on.

I have several passwords for my home life and then I have about 8 passwords that I need to use for work. I don't write these down anywhere as that is an easy way to have people learn your password. Nor do I make them something simple that is easy to guess. I don't memorize the words or letters or numbers. I memorize what keystrokes I need to press on the keyboard. I do this because it seems like when it comes to typing my fingers often know more of where they are going and what they are doing than my brain. I just get into a pattern of pressing the same keys. I have a horrible memory and really don't understand how this works for me but it does!

Hi easy888! Well, I have the same password for my 3 email accounts and same passowrd in online paying sites just so it would be organized. But just to make sure, I keep a handy notepad with me and all my passwords and usernames in different sites (eg. mylot, clixsense, etc) are all listed down. I suggest you do this. Keep a list of your passwords in your diary, journal or anywhere as long as it's hidden and only you have access to it. It really helps. Before, I used to join different forums and I get all my usernames and passwords mixed up. That's why I decided to come up with a solution.

Thank you for you advise, marababe,I think it is a very good idea to keep a list, some members suggest me to write it down on a piece of paper and hide it in somewhere, but i am still thinking where i should hide it at home, may be it is safer to save it in my laptop.
