I'm in my late 20's and I really enjoy reading the Harry potter books. I also like watching the movies and am looking forward tot he 5th one...since I think the 5th book is my favorite.
I would not say I am "outgrowing" the books, but I think that it's important for a story to end in it's time. There is nothing worst than when something gets dragged on for too long. we see this often in TV series. Aften I'll see a show and say "This should have ended last season". I would hate to see HP "Jump the shark" as the expression goes.
So I'm looking forward to the story being summed up...and while it will be sad there is not more to read, I think it's more importnat for it to end well.

I have to admit that I am 41 and love Harry Potter.
That's the great thing about reading...you get to be young again, and fight the forces of evil, or win the Prince's heart, or whatever it is the story tells.
These books have such a great feel to them. I don;t think that you're ever too old to be swept away by a great story.
At first, I admit I was embarrassed that I enjoyed these. Istarted reading them when my stepson did, and ended up more engrossed than he was. He still reads them and watches the movies, but he's no tnearly as addicted as me. He thinks it's hilarious. Wanted tme to wear the glasses I got when I bought Half Blood Prince when we went to see Goblet of Fire. I thought I'd embarass him and pulled them out and pretended I was going in with them....he was gonna let me! Ok, he won!

Hee Hee! I had had zero interest in these books. Then when I was pregnant my husband brought me the first HP book to read to my belly. I started off reading it out loud to my tummy and then got so into it that I stopped reading out loud because I couldn't read as fast that way! I have been completely addicted ever since. I can't wait for book 7, and I'm in denial that it will be the last!

I'm 42 and my husband is 38 and we cannot wait for the new book and movie! We have our calendars marked and when the book arrives in our mail we will be fighting over reading it! lol. I usually get to read when he is at work or band practice and he takes it over when he is home since I have all the time he is not home, but if I find a job before the book comes out, we will have to work out a fair schedule somehow. Too old for Harry Potter?! The fact that you even think you are too old proves you are not mature at all! My daughter is 18 and she thinks she is so grown up! I remember when I was 18 and thought I was grown up. I got married to prove I was grown up! Wow, what a mistake that was! Believe me, when you are my age you will know that you are just a baby! lol. Enjoy life, but don't take yourself so seriously, hun.

You know, I started reading the 6th book again. There will be a HP quiz in a bookstore close to my place and they're giving away book 7 as the first prize. After reading book 6 again, I think:
NO ONE IS TOO OLD FOR HP! :)

Uh oh then I'm really in trouble because I'm over twice your age and I still read them. I love the series and can't wait for the next one to come out. I think the series is good for any age group, from 8 to a 108 really. I cannot see why we have to limit ourselves just because we are getting older.

I feel that you can never be too old for Harry Potter or any other make believe book. I love the Harry Potter series and I'm 26 but then again I never want to grow up, lol. Your taste in books is probably changing and as you grow out of one stage you will find another that you love. Don't be surprised if somewhere down the road you pick up the Potter books and start reading them again.

I have mixed feelings about the series ending. All good things must come to an end, it is true, but it has been something myown kids have grown up with and we have all enjoyed together. While I am far too old for HP, I love each new book anyhow, and have loved sharing it with my kids. As Harry has grown up, it has meant my own kids have grown up, and I am one mother who has mixed feelings abou that!

You are only as old as you feel. I'm 30 and can't wait for the book to come out. The movie--I'll wait till it is on DVD like I did with the others, but the book... I can't wait. I might actually reserve this one. The others I bought at Wal-mart the day after they came out (there were tons).
I am bittersweet about the book, though. I can't wait to find out what happens but I am also sad to know it is ending. But...that is where fan fiction comes in. There is a lot of great fan fiction out there. I write some myself, but not for Harry Potter. I'm sure I'll find someone that continues the story.

I'm 39 and I adore the Harry Potter books! You can get tired of them and decide that you don't want to follow them anymore, but it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that you have hit the ripe old age of 18! Enjoy what you enjoy. Love what you love. I love me some Harry Potter and I can't wait for Book 7 to get here, although I'm very sad to know that it will be the end.

I'm 21 and i have re-read these books more than anything else. I dont think you can outgrow harry potter, most of my family have read harry potter so i dont think there is an age restriction on these books or an age that you grow out of them.

As most of them agree, I too feel that HP is not a novel that anybody can outgrow. I have read and re-read the series many times and each time, I find something that I have not seriously thought about. I started reading HP at when I was 27 and now I am 32, and still love it like many do. Its but natural that many of us like magic and stuff connected with it. A novel like HP that gives us a chance to relive some magic as well as understand a normal human being's thoughts and feelings like Harry makes it so much more enjoyable.. not to mention the timely humour sprinkled here and there by the author.

im 17 now. i dont think there's age in books. the book is for general patronage so any age is not excempted..
and harry potter is a great novel. i am a fan of it too and cant wait to read the last book.. i am excited with the last but im also sad knowing that it is the last.
anyway, back to ur topic.. there is no age in harry potter. even if ur 90 and above, as long as u have a very good imagination and u can still read, then harry potter is for u..

I don't think there is such a thing as being too old for Harry Potter. Most of the people I know who REALLY love Harry Potter are not kids. The friends I have made who like it the most are college students along with me. We went as far as making wands and going to the midnight premier of Goblet of Fire in a huge group. I even wore my Slytherin tie and one of my friends was wearing my black cloak.
Even if Harry Potter is marketed as a 'kid's' book, I think a large percentage of the people who read it are older teenagers and adults. Besides, it doesn't matter to me what age group it's for. The books are all wonderful and going to see the movies is great fun! I'm rather sad that the series is ending here, but I still have two more movies to look forward to.

I am 37 Years old and chomping on the bit for the book. I find that I like Books written in that vein a lot more then those written for adults. At your Age however it makes sense that you feel that way. You are just starting to grow up, ready to shed your youthful skin. Once you get older you will want it back.

i don't really think one can ever outgrow HP...bcoz it has sumthin 2 teach 2 neone of all age groups....I love Hp so much dat I want it to go on and on..but the best part of Hp is dat it will get over wid dis 7th book...makin it immortal in hp fans' hearts..If it will stretch then it may even sound like a k-crap saga..so I think its best for HP to end with the 7th book.

I'm 23 years old and absolutely love the Harry Potter series. I really don't want it to end, although I understand that J.K. Rowling is getting older and she wants it to end. I am really saddened by it, but at least I have the books and I can read them all I want. My mom, who is 35 years older than I am, reads them avidly. She and I are both upset at the thought of the series coming to an end. Some people grow out of it, while others, like my mother and I, are still kids at heart. I don't know, I think it just preys on our imagination, but it's still really fun! I hope you can at least make it through the last book, just so you know how it ends.

18 is too small an age to outgrow HP. I am heading towards 30 and still enjoy the HP series. But, I would like the series to end after the last book as I don't want other writers writing stories about the various characters in the book.
The climax and that's all...
Cheers!

I'm turning 20 just in time for this last installment of the HP series but I really don't feel like I'm outgrowing it. I've been a huge fan since I was 13. I'm really really sad about it ending because I feel like I'm losing a huge part of my life. I spent all my teen years growing up with Harry, and the world that he lives in serves as my refuge whenever I want to escape from this one. I have to admit that I've outgrown some aspects of the Harry Potter fan universe like before, I read a whole lot of fan fiction and participate in every Harry Potter group or forum there is. It's kind of weird also that I didn't reserve a copy of book 7 until about two weeks ago because for the past 2 books, as soon as the reservation sign is put up, I'm there. Those are the things that I've grown out of but being an HP fan, I'm sure I will still be one until I reach 60 and beyond. I also want it to end here, not because I want to get it over with, but because it is what was planned, and prolonging it will just ruin the story.

well I am 25. I didn't start reading Harry Potter until I was about your age. I dont' feel I'm outgrowing it at all. I will continue to love the books well into later years.
